Q: Will this protect glass jars?

I actually sent mine back, because it was too small for all of my products. (I seem to carry many things). I personally would NOT put glass in it.

Q: what is the size of the side pockets? Can I fit an 8" portable water pick on the side?

I have a 5" Tums bottle in the side and it just fits....There is an outside zippered pouch that measures 9"s on the diagonal but it would depend on the diameter of your pick.

Yes, you can take the toiletry bag on an airplane. I've been doing it for years now. But if you're taking it as carry-on luggage, be aware of the 3-1-1 liquids rule, allowing only travel-size containers of max 3.4 ounces. For more information, see TSA.gov.
