4 months on and no algae in the water at all
My pond is approximately 400 Gallons and the water is crystal clear. The pond also has a pressure filter, a small biofilter in the spillway 2 prefilters before the pumps so this filter isn't doing all the lifting, but it's doing it's job.So as far as controlling the algae is has been great. The only time the water in my pond has had any green in it was a when I had to turn this filter off for about 10 days. This works so well that when I turned it back on after that period my then green water turned brown in just 20 minutes, which meant it had killed all the free floating algae in that amount of time. It is back to crystal clear. This lightbulb, like the bulb in all UV filters is only good for a year, or 10 months really.IMPORTANT This filter is DESIGNED to limit the flow of water through it. It is not perfect though, so if you put too powerful of a pump on it it may stop working, as it takes time to kill algae. If you connect a pump to large to it, you won't get much of the extra flow so it's a waste of money. Most importantly, a pump too large can even burn out it is connected inline with the filter. I had this happen to me. This was my fault so I don't hold it against the filter. I had this originally installed inline with my pressure filter and spillway a 800-900 GPH (sorry I can't remember exactly what it was) pump. This was a huge headache until I figured I out what was going on, it would stop working every week or so and had to be power cycled, and in the end it broke the pump. I ended up with a 1200 GPH pump through the pressure filter to my spillway, which looks great, and a 550 GPH pump that goes to my UV filter then a pair of spitters. The only criticism I have about this device is I wish they would have designed it to fit directly on to other tetra products, instead of having to connect everything with a hose. I had wanted originally wanted to connect it directly to my pressure filter, that would not have been a good setup in the end for me because I wanted more flow than that would have allowed, but the option would still be nice.

Highly recommend
This UV clarifier made all the difference in the world to my pond. I had been algae green for years until I installed this. It took only 2 days to notice a difference and about 5 days to become clear. The clarifier is easy to install and I have had no problems with leaks at all. It has kept all the algae out of the pond for many months and is quite durable. The color Blends in well with the pond and is not an eyesore. I highly recommend anyone with a pond purchase this item, you'll be thrilled!

Better than we expected
I believe we have been using this for 2 years now in an outdoor koi pond. Works great. Called customer service when we 1st got it because the bulb wasn't working. They immediately sent out a replacement bulb.

Keeps my small ( 100 g.) turtle pond- Very Clear -while AZ sun bakes the water
Bought the small version UC-5 since pond is under 600 gal ; it cleared my cloudy water in less than 2 days. Am running a 1600 g/hr pump with coarse inlet filter, waterfall w coarse pond media and 100 um polishing filter. I was a filtration engineer for pharma and lab- this product takes out those bacteria sized algae cells which easily develop in Southern AZ especially when my pond hits just over 90 degrees late afternoon ( working on a cover) Assembly can be a problem if you misplace "o" rings- like I did. Finally , once water is clear, I only run during daylight giving my fish and turtles still water overnight. It's the best filter unit I own for this new pond. Good job Tetra !

Well Built. Super Effective. READ ON>>>
I added the Tetra Pond UV Clarifier to my green soup pond. I also changed my filter sponges. Three days and green soup is crystal clear consumee. My pond, including the upper settling pond, is about 450 gallons. That little light that comes in the Tetra pond only uses 5 watts; so its inexpensive to operate. It changed my high season from green hell to crystal clear delight. Thanks Tetra Pond. I bought you because I trusted your brand name from my childhood. You did not disappoint. Thanks from bringing light to a shady world :)

Removes algae
Our roughly 100 gallon pond was a mess. My husband had worked for days with our old filter system to try to remove all the algae, couldn’t even see our poor fish in the pond. He found this little contraption and all I can say is WOW! Our pond was very murky but after a week of continuous use clearing began, after 10 days it was completely clear. I don’t know if that is considered too long but for us it worked great

Missing part/leaks at hose connection
It is my fault that I did not read carefully enough to realize this clarifier is not submersible, otherwise my issue would be manageable. This was supposed to come with 2 sealing rings but there was only , so the fitting without the ring leaks. In addition, there is a leak where the tube connects to the fitting. I purchased new tubing, and it works fine at the outlet, but drips at the inlet end. I have tried using a hose clamp, but it still drips. Hopefully Amazon will read this review and help me out.
