Best book on my yoga shelf
This book is an excellent, concise guide to understanding joint mobility and muscle engagement. I’m hooked - I’ve sat down to read it for pleasure twice already!As an experienced and senior yoga teacher, finding a book I want to read, and return to, is gold dust.The clear illustrations, with color-coded visuals for engaged and stretched muscles, make it easy to see and understand key movements.I especially appreciated the practical tips throughout, which, while familiar, are very useful for teachers looking to share helpful insights with students.Overall, it simplifies complex concepts, concretes the anatomically relevant facts and provides actionable advice, making it a great resource for both personal practice and teaching. I love it!

Great book of knowledge
An all round great book. This book is well researched, well documented, with great illustrations and easy to follow instructions on how to do the poses, as well as the benefits of each pose and the possible risks. The book also offers variations on poses if they are difficult or painful.I was worried when I read the first few chapters as they seemed to be more of a biology lesson into the muscle groups. However this is extremely important as when the book hoes into detail of the poses the illustrations break down the benefits to each group. Be it strengthening, straining (to avoid), or to improve posture or blood flow. It reminded me of my very knowledgeable teacher Rosie Evens. In her class she used to talk through the reason why thr poses were done the way they were.This is an intermediate to advanced level book. Though beginners will find it easy to follow and definitely informative, but like all exercises I would recomend trying a class before trying it from a book. Not a knock on the book at all just my opinion on sports/exercise.The other great thing about the kindle format of yhus book is that I like how in the first few chapters in the biology parts they talk about poses that could be useful and I can tap on yhe link to take me to that part of the book. Personally I think more e-book/kindle books should take advantage of this feature. In kindle it let's me snap back to the page I was reading before going on the linked pose.This is a great book that I would recommend to anyone especially people who might want to get back into Yoga from home.

Excellent throughout
Beautifully written and illustrated. What an eye opener to yoga, not just the anatomy but the numerous other benefits it can bring. A brilliant resource.

A solid one for the collection
You couldn't teach yourself yoga well just from a book, but if you already practice it then this book is a good addition to your studies.

If you want to see the anatomy of what yoga can do to the body this is the book for you. Clear well drawn diagrams and quite informative.

Very technical, Great book
Love this book I am new to yoga so also bought a beginners book but this book shows you every single muscle, tendon, ligament that is being used when in each pose, I have arthritis at the C vertebrae of my spine and it causes pain in my neck, shoulders and back this book shows you which poses will stretch/ strengthen the muscles to help ease the pain, quite technical but helps you identify where the pain can be coming from, very good book would absolutely recommend

Beautiful and informative
Recommend for anyone who is interested in yoga or any physical movement really. Excellent graphics and a tonne of great, up to date science. It’s a rare combination of the best of the scientific world and beautiful, educational imagery. Love it!
