If the powder in the capsule dries up, shrinks and hardens inside the capsule, this is due to exposure to moisture, because Now has the worst bottle caps. It should still be safe if the capsule itself is intact and there’s no foul smell. The potency might degrade but I didn’t notice that.My Solution: Put the bottle inside another larger glass bottle with a tight lid, like a mason jar. This will provide more protection from moisture in the air. And keeping it in the refrigerator will protect it from heat damage if your home gets warm.If you want to avoid this issue entirely, you can buy the SAM-e that is individually wrapped in blister packs. It’s more expensive when packaged like that but if you’re concerned it’s worth the peace of mind.

I was able to view lab test for quality on this product. I have decided I will only buy NOW because I trust the lab test they publish is true. The also show a group of competitions products and how they rate, plus Consumer Labs says they thing NOW brand is quality. This is a big issue for me. Sam-e helps me with energy. I like it. Excellent product. Cheaper than the dog SAM-e pills and just as effective. More economical to purchase giving you more for the price than the veterinary formula.

Okay, I tried to find a contact for NOW on the product page and all I could find was a link to their home page and no way to contact the seller to ask about my issue. So, I have to give my review without their input. This is the first time I have tried using SAMe. I recently had to go on Warfarin because of some blood clots in my lungs and the supplements I was taking for my joints also thins the blood, so I was looking for something else that did not interfere with warfarin. SAMe appeared to be a good replacement, so I purchased this bottle. After taking it for a short time, I noticed something strange - There were 2 different kinds of capsules in this bottle. See my photo. Some of the tablets are clear with a smaller tablet inside that has a brownish color. The other tablets in the bottle are completely white as you can see. Did I get a bottle with 2 different supplements? I am afraid to take these now as I don't know if they are actually the same thing or if one is something else that will not work with my warfarin. So, I had to quit taking them altogether. In many products on Amazon, you can contact the seller, but I guess NOW does not want to talk to customers and all I can do is go to their home page and read about their products. There is no "contact us" capability. I would like to know if these 2 different looking tablets that are in this one bottle are actually SAMe and why they have different looks. I do not want to waste my money by just throwing these away. I do not like to give bad ratings on products I buy on Amazon without giving a seller the opportunity to explain an issue I might have. In this case, I have no choice but to show my issue to others who may be looking at buying this product.

These capsules are very large capsules--approximately 7/8ths inches long and 5/8th inches wide. I will definitely look for smaller Sam-E capsules the next time I make a purchase.

Day 20 review. I rarely write reviews for products but I’m amazed at how well this stuff works. The pandemic has had an impact on my mental health and it finally reached a point where I was seeking out help. I have taken ssri’s in the past and they do work but I found the side effects to be a bit much. I have taken Sam-e in the past but never had much success but after some additional research I figured I’d give it another go. Consistency is key to knowing if this will work for you or not. Take it at the same time daily for a couple weeks and make sure your getting 7+ hours of sleep at night.**A word of caution to anyone who’s currently taking ssri’s, microdosing psychedelics or recreationally taking drugs that affect serotonin. Sam-e is known to work on serotonin in the body, mixing these drugs with Sam-e can be dangerous and can potentially cause serotonin syndrome. Talk to your doctor first and/or stop taking the other drugs well before trying Sam-e. **I take only 200mg of sam-e first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with some caffeine (200mg rapid release + 100mg extended release) and a 21 mg nicotine patch (New Years resolution to quit vaping). I don’t eat for the next 30 minutes to an hour. I store Sam-e in the fridge and take it with water.It has a subtle effect to it that is recognizable to people who have taken drugs that affect serotonin. There is some stomach discomfort but that’s to be expected and not as bad as some make it out to be (mine might be caused my the caffeine on an empty stomach and your stomach also has many serotonin receptors). The most noticeable difference has been my quality of sleep, it’s improved dramatically. My depression and anxiety have also improved to a manageable level. I work a physically job and have noticed some pain relief in my joints. It’s been an overall positive experience.It’s important to keep your expectations reasonable. It’s not a magic pill that will make you super happy but it can give you some control back of your negative emotions. You’ll still have bad days but they won’t be quite as bad. This is my experience so far, your mileage may vary. Some people might need 400mg but I would try just 200mg first and see how it goes. It’s important to keep your dosing consistent and also the way you dose (not eating with the food). I refrigerate mine because I read that it was recommended to prevent oxidation of the drug (not sure if it’s true or not but it can’t hurt).Overall I look forward to taking Sam-e in the morning. It’s helped me significantly. This is the brand I’ve taken. The capsules have no flavor and might be “large” for some but I have never had an issue taking them.
