I bought this to clean rocks and minerals. Not sure how I made it this many years without a tool like this.I've been using it to clean a batch of quartz that I mined about 20 years ago, which has just been sitting in a bucket.Really great for getting hard clay out of crevices in points and clusters.However, note that you can easily obliterate more delicate features if the pressure is too high, even on quartz.I tried a higher pressure setting on a softer malachite/chrysocolla specimen, and it tore right through it.It's not clear which way to turn the knob to make it higher or lower pressure.Lastly, I'm surprised nobody mentioned how loud this thing is. It sounds like a mini jackhammer. I live in an apartment, and have to time my use for when the neighbors are at work. I'm hearing impaired, and this thing sounds loud to me!

This item was a replacement for a unit I bought many years ago at the Tucson Gem Show, so I knew what I was buying... at least I thought I knew. The item arrived promptly and looked the same as my old unit, with the exception of the plug. It arrived with a foreign plug and it came with a U.S. adapter. Weird, but I thought it would be ok. After using this item for about 20 minutes, my hand began to feel like I had some nerve pain, so I switched hands and felt the same thing... I switched back and realized I was actually getting a low voltage electrical shock through the aluminum (?) handle! I’m not sure if the handle was not made purely of aluminum, but I definitely had a constant shock every time I pressed the power button.I initially thought I should hold the unit with a towel, or glove, but then I came to my senses and submitted request for return. As always, Amazon’s customer service is outstanding and the return was no trouble, but I’m still in total shock (excuse the pun) at the poor quality of this product!

Didn't buy for what it was created for, but it works awesome on the deep down dirt in my rocks!
