Love This Kit,,!!!!!!!!
As an expert on model building I love everything about this Prince of Whales Battleship.Over my 40 years of building models TAMIYA always have been producing great models.Directions here are spot on being written in English or Japenese and actually gives 2 ways to build the hull, ,according to the photos on the actuall kit box.Shiping here was super coming from Japan in about 4 days,,,and packaging was also delivered with absolutely no damage. So hats off to our friends over there. This Battleship calls for TAMIYA acrylic paints which can be somewhat exspensive ,,,, so I recommend a Shuttle Art Kit sold here on Amazon for 75 dollars getting 66 different colors,,,,paint brushes,,,palette,,,canvas,,,etc. This kit has all the colors to paint this little jewel.also theirs enough paints to let maybe a youngster in your family practice their drawing skills. The ship here is a firm 25 inches in length and a mast of about 10 inches in height. The origin of the Wales was in the year 1941 and lived a very short life. The kit calls for a deep red color for the hull,,,with a black water line,,military grays,,,blue highlights,,,and some whitesGreens,, ,golds,,, With a deck painted in tan.Be sure to cut out the kit box top and frame it above where youWill be displaying it,,,,great for a man cave as you will be the envy of friends and family. Also write out the history of this ship which is also furnished with the instructs and also frame it..Patience here is a virtue,,so please take your time,,, I can remember some of my very first models ending up as target practice due to poor craftsmanship,, but I learned the hard way.Lets look at price here,,, All I can say is compare compare and compare and you find a great price here at 85 dollars for a 1/350 size ship.Remember the smaller the fraction the bigger the model will be.as a 1/200 ship would be bigger than the Wales.Keep the amount of glue on each part to a minimum,, ,myself at times applying the glue with a toothpick or ku-tip.You can paint the sides of this ship either in camoflage or military grey depending on the the pics on the box cover. There is a question here ,,,well should I use acrylic paints or enamel, Gloss or flat,,, either way be sure to practice on blank paper.I have found painting camoflage takes sometime to master the art of it.Ihave found that during the painting process you can place paints in the fridge which allows you to keep the paints from drying out in between changing colors in the process. In the kit box there is a piece of paper called Tech-tips but it’s only in JAPENESE,,go figure.Could we use stencils here on the camo?Yes you can.If you want to use enamel gloss paint I recommend the testors brand you won’t go wrong also sold here on Amazon. For painting lines such as the black waterline part on this ship be sure you have at least 3 different sizes widths of this special tape also sold on Amazon. At times here for a wick drying process I use a hairdryer which Iam sure most households have one,,, a cheap alternative for the drying process.MY FINAL WORDS HERE IS HAVE FUN HERE AND TRY TO include a son,,,,Daughter or any family member,, a great alternative to get them away from those phones or computers,,, and YES BUY THIS PRINCE OF WHALES BATTLESHIP YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG, GOOD DAY MY FRIENS,,, I DO HOPE THIS HAS HELPED YOU IN THE WORLD OF MODELING,,,,, the included photos here show different phases of construction.SOME OF THESE COLORS WERE MADE BY MIXING 3 OR MORE DIFFERENT COLORS together.the instructions here are a total of 24 pages during the building process. For instance white mixed with black produces a medium gray color.the hull on this model is a hull red by mixing cream with a red color,,then adding a little black..The finished ship is shown on my last pics,,, I enclosed it in a 20 gallon aquarium with lighted hood. Thanks go out to Amazon,,,,Good Day.

The size is amazing! Great model!
I've always built 1:700 WL models, when this showed up I couldn't believe it. It is frigging huge! I love it. Just finished up my first 1:350 WWII destroyer and it was glorious. Can't wait to get started on this one! Tamiya models are the best.

Typical Tamiya Quality
The HMS Prince of Wales battleship kit was what I expected from Tamiya: Appropriate model scale, excellent casting of parts, great detail, and clear and informative instructions. Recommended.

Showpiece
Tamiya ships in this scale have considerable detail. With some effort, these can easily be museum quality. They do require some skill and a certain amount of patience. Try using the panel stain to make certain details pop. One thing I like about this package is that you get English/German as well as Japanese instructions.

and so far I am impressed and having a good time working on it
Wow!What a refreshing change from the last 2 models I built!I just started building this model, and so far I am impressed and having a good time working on it.Tamiya has better instructions, better fitting of parts, and better detail than any of the other 2 brands I have worked with. And the 1/350 scale is the way to go!!I will do my level best to get Tamiya models from now on!
