Boyu EF-05 External Canister Filter

just got it today ...brand new sealed pack ....took some time to figure out this external filter but with my 60 litre fish tank it finally got going ...and can circulate water allright .....a few things to be kept in mind with this product :>only works with 60 litre or less fixed fish tanks>the power must be switched off first and then top plug taken out and refilled to the brim to restart ...otherwise disaster !!!!>the clip provided as hang on is very importantI rate this as the best value for money external filter and it works very well with overhead sobo filter and for 60 litres that is more than enough ....but the best is not enough for our pet fishes (mine are naughty tin foils and kois )....cheers!!!

Good canister filter for small aquariums. Have a 10G planted aquarium with a slightly heavy bioload (thanks to the new guppy fry). Was using a slim HOB along with a DIY internal bio filter that was occupying a lop of space and was noisy. The canister was supposed to replace my existing DIY filter so that the space occupied could be used for more plants. This is not economical for those who have a non-planted aquarium where you are better off using a Pothos plant aka money plant in your HOB. For the rest of us who do have nano planted aquariums and want a decent aquascape, this will be a very useful addition/primary filter. A word of caution to those with planted tanks and using fertilizers: Remove activated carbon from the filter and add more ceramic media instead. Activated carbon will remove nutrients critical for plant growth especially those using liquid ferts or tabs.

Received a product in which there was no seal on the box.Completely useless filter. Followed all instructions but the pump was not working. The water was unable to flow.May be a defective or used product.Placed a return requeest within an hour of receiving.Please spend more money and buy atleast a basic fluval, hydor or eheim canister. Else if your budget is low better to use a overhead or internal filter.

I needed a small filter for my 14 gallon Planted Betta Rank. This product perfectly serves the purpose. It provides a gentle current (which is good for my plants ) without tossing the betta around. It made a lot of noise initially, but became completely silent after 3-4 days of use. Good Filter for small tanks.

There is leakage on the top of the box. I need put separate box below it to collect leakage of water. Cleaning it cleans small tank properly.

This is the best canister filter in low budget range. It clears the tank water perfectly and makes it crystal clear. And it is so quiet in its working that one can never hear a single sound from it.. I'll definitely recommend it.

Using it for past 3 months. Works great as biological filter. if you want to use it as biological filter, go for it.

This is one of cheapest canister filters available in the market and does the job pretty well. It is suited for small tanks with 50-80 liters. It does not contain any manual of how to operate or assemble the filter. I had to search online and used common sense to assemble this. It is pretty silent and works well. It has no flow control know, however flow can be achieved using one of the attachments for output.One should buy this only if they want a pretty inexpensive canister filter for a nano tank.
