Crayola Virtual Design Pro-Cars

My son is 6, and absolutely loves this set. It is a little fancy for a 6 year old, and you pay for that, but I think it makes him feel like a "big boy," which works for me. Good selection of colors, especially with the pencils, and you can always use your own good ol' box of crayons to supplement, if desired. Do BEWARE the markers... You'll want to use a divider, as the ink WILL bleed through the pages!! It also includes several plastic sheets of stencils, which work well and are pretty cool... definitely "race car appropriate."I was curious why there were even 1 star reviews, so I read some and it seemed to be agreed that the app is only supported on a limited number of devices. I can only attest to iPad and iPad mini, and we had no issues with the app itself or the scanning. Yes, I agree that it would be hard for the kids to scan it themselves if they are on the younger side, but really?? It takes 5 seconds to scan. If you can't help your kid out that much, then yeah... maybe this toy isn't for you. And kudos to crayola on the capturing. The cars portrayed in the app really do look exactly like he draws them!As the purchaser, I really appreciate the fact that the app includes extra printable templates, so you aren't out of luck once the original 20 pages are done. I also thought ahead a little bit and made copies of the pages that aren't online before he colored them, so he could have more of those models, too. So far the in-app elements have been sufficient for my little one. And he is NO stranger to racing games, so thumbs up there. It seems when he tires of playing the tracks, he just goes and colors a new car and begins the game anew.

This is a virtual design art set where you color cars and share with an app that you scan from box. And the car you design comes to life! The app is not working and apparently was shut down in 2018!! My Grandson was really looking forward to this birthday present. Faulse advertising!

The app is still available for download for android devices on some apk websites!! You need an old tablet like the sm t350 so the os doesn’t upgrade past the app’s compatibility since crayola stopped supporting it around 2017. The app is great for kids who love cars, there is literally nothing else like it that combines cars, and traditional drawing methods with gameplay and computer graphics. I never write reviews but I was desperate to find this for my son and I see many people gave up before finding it themselves. The download should be 120mb. Just search online first that the third party website is reliable before you download. Hope this helps!

We have found our new "go to" gift for birthdays. We love that it comes in a nice, organized box. Once you unlock the app, you can print an unlimited number of pages to color again and again. The only downside to the app is that you can only keep 6 cars in your garage at any time. It's not awful as long as your kids delete and rescan cars they want back. We are extremely pleased with the innovative product from Crayola!

Bought this for our 8 year old grandson and he really liked it. We took it along while on a trip to keep him entertained at the hotel and it worked great. He decided to design his car rather than go swim in the pool. After a full day at the amusement park I was grateful he had something to do that did not include Nana having to do more activities at the end of the day! It's a very nice kit, has everything needed and is good quality for an inexpensive design set.

This was was a really fun gift for my son. The box that it comes in, is actually the case for all of the pieces which makes it convenient for storage and less mess. When you open the case it opens completely flat so that you can have everything in front of you. There are so many different colors to choose from. We all took turns coloring different pictures. The coolest part of this is that you can take a picture of your colored pic and it upload right into the game! Its great for kids to see their design that they made. We used an iPad for the app and scanned it on there. It seems to upload fine and the colors seemed to replicate great compared to the actual pic. My son really enjoyed it.4 out of 5 stars because he colored all of the pictures fairly quickly and lost interest after he ran out of things to color. But he still uses the markers and pencils for other things and the case is great.

Come on, Crayola... when the big draw for this product is the app that brings your drawings to life, that app should really work with more than a handful of devices. Sadly, the thing my son wanted most this year is now just an overpriced box of markers... until someone gets their act together and updates the software.Specifically, the app will load and appear to work, until it's time to scan in your masterpiece. If you are not using one of the specific working version devices, the app will not align with, nor recognize or scan the image. Great idea, poor execution for now... very disappointing.

This set is great. Yes it is essentially just a set of markers, pencils, etc. but an 8 year old loves it. The annoying part is that unless you have air print on an ipad or similar, its difficult to get more templates. There is one template available on the Crayola website that anyone can get, color in and upload into the ipad app. But the other templates are only available in the app.
