Love this pepper! The flakes are almost pure black and not the most appealing aroma but the flavor is totally unique. The heat seems to vary from a medium to medium hot warmth. The flavor is complex, fruity, smokey and rich. I am a huge fan of Aleppo pepper and now Urfa. I have mixed the two in one shaker for a balanced black and red blend. Very nice packaging also. I highly recommend this pepper.

This is an ingredient that everyone should experience. It adds a deep low hummm of heat and the slight hidden sweetness of raisins or grape skins. Awesome in beans, stews, pasta sauce and as a rub with Herb de Provence on grilled meat.

Great taste, this pepper is hotter added to a broth than it is sprinkled on top of steak, but it’s great either way. Raisiny sweetness with hint of smoke and chipotle the grows into a medium spiciness when simmered.

This adds a subtle umami flavor to soups and stews. A tiny amount of heat, but mostly a sweet earthy richness. If you like layered flavors in your cooking, you MUST try this.

I was looking for a new way to spice up meals by getting something other than the typical "crushed pepper flakes" in the spice aisle. So far I've used this on the stove top while frying up veggies and I love the smoky flavor it adds to the dishes! It's an easy way to add a new flavor to meals.

This is better than the isot I buy from Turkey, and I get the good stuff there. As a Turkish person, I approve this. It's got great flavor and just the right amount of heat.

No need to add extra spices with Urfa black pepper; I add it to meat and vegetables

Bought at end of December, "best by" May. Still, a lively, different pepper flavor despite (or maybe because or) listed oil and salt ingredients.
