Q: Does the player emit true 5.1 multi-channel surround sound or just 2- channel stereo?

Only 2 channel. There are no HDMI or multichannel connections. That said while it’s not inexpensive. It plays beautifully over my not too expensive system in my not too sound conducive room. Unfortunately, Oppo no longer sells a multichannel Blu-ray player. It handles multichannel SACD and other formats. You may want to find a quality used player if your multichannel needs is a deal breaker. Unfortunately, their top units now go for top dollar.

Q: I want to play some sacds with this unit. can i just use a bluetooth speaker instead of having to use a receiver?

Thanks for your question. The SACD30 has built-in Bluetooth capability. It can stream wirelessly to a Bluetooth speaker. World Wide Stereo is 43 years old and a proud authorized Marantz dealer.
