100 percent espresso capable!
The media could not be loaded. Guys and gals I have to tell you that I am really impressed with how well this grinder is working for me for espresso!Let me start off by saying that the 64mm flat burr set that is included is a standard 64mm flat burr set, and to my surprise, the burrs are 100 percent swappable and upgradeable which is something you don't see with lower priced grinders, usually there is something that makes them difficult to upgrade with other brand or aftermarket burr sets. The body of this grinder is a plastic casing, or body, however, it is not a lightweight plastic so it is built well, but it is plastic nonetheless, thus allowing for the company to sell at a much less expensive, more economical, price than most other 64mm flat burr grinders. It is important to note that the chamber on the inside that holds the burrs is all metal and that is extremely important.I don't know about you but I am willing to sacrifice a plastic body for a few hundred dollars, or more, of savings. This grinder has a digital interface and has a programmable countdown timer that you can program. It comes preset at 10 seconds for a single shot and 20 seconds of grind time for a double shot, you can easily adjust this up or down to your liking, and you can also manually start and stop the grinder when you prefer, which is what I do.The top burr is easily removable like most of your flat burr grinders, you just loosen the dialing ring by turning it counterclockwise and then the spring will pop up, you can then remove the dial ring and finally remove the top burr for cleaning. There are instructions included on how to remove and reinsert the burr and retighten, and I think it's important to note that when you go to put the top burr back in after cleaning, there are notches that are set so that you cannot make a mistake and you just easily and lightly put it back in place, then you place the dial ring back on top, most likely with zero sitting on your grind marker, and then push down on the chamber and hold it down, and twist the dial ring clockwise, spinning it clockwise while holding the chamber down until you feel it start to tighten up.I have replaced the hopper that comes stock with this grinder with a single dose hopper, however, I will tell you that the hopper that comes with this grinder works very well and I was single dosing with it with very little retention when using the bellows included. It's just that I myself prefer a single dose hopper to work with for my workflow. It comes with an optional portafilter holder that works with all size portafilters so that if you like you can grind right into your basket, the holder will also work for many single dosing cups as you can see in the video that I've attached to my review. The unit is fairly quiet for the size of a grinder that you are receiving in my opinion.I mentioned it in the video and I will mention it here as well, I've read a review where the reviewer included pictures of a very course grind, stating that this grinder is not an espresso capable grinder, and I can tell you that there is definitely either an issue with that user's product or it is user error because I and other people that I know that have this grinder are grinding espresso capable, uniform grounds with this grinder daily.I'm not great at videos but I've included a video so that you have an eyes on experience that shows the grinding capability of the grinder and some of the features. I also did a quick pull of espresso in the video, however, I will say that I usually run a blank shot to warm my portafilter and group head up and in this case I did not, and it actually backfired on me and gave me a 35-second pull opposed to my normal 26 or 27 second pull, and seemed to have been a bit tighter or more compact with a slower flow than normal with some channeling.I did use a different tamper than I normally use and I did all of this to try to get the video done a bit quicker as I did not initially plan on pulling a shot for the video.Overall, I don't think it's possible to beat the price for what you are getting as this grinder gives quality grounds and is consistently grinding espresso capable shots, and I'm sure it will work well with other brew methods as well.I have worked with their customer service and I can tell you first hand that they are fast to reply and they are very courteous and communicate well. Many people will tell you that if you are not spending at least $300 or more for your grinder than it's not going to perform well, and while the grinder is much more important in espresso than the espresso machine itself, I am here to tell you that this grinder gives you quality espresso capable grinds for a fantastic price and that is due to the company making the body out of a hard plastic instead of a metal or aluminum.I took a risk and bought this grinder and I could not be any more happy and satisfied than I am, and I feel as if I really hit a bargain for what I'm getting!Highly recommended!5 of 5 overall.

Could be the Best inexpensive 64mm flat burr grinder on the market
If your are looking for a cheap 64mm grinder and don't want to spend $400,00 or more then this could be your go to grinder, this would be a good upgrade to the built in grinder on the Breville BBE and BE Pro, I bought a Eureka Mignon Facile 50mm espresso machine for $400.00 but got $20.00 when I bought it, the DF64 had just came out but had very little info at the time so I went with the Facile with my Breville Barista Pro and now with my Mara X that I have had for a year but I also saw the Shardor grinder on Tom's channel and also on Hoon's channel and was intrigued in the grinder and that SSP burrs might work, so far I am happy with the grinder, one review said they could grind for espresso which the first time I try grinding on #10 espresso on adjustment dail it choked my Mara X, it took me three time to get adjustment right I'm on setting 22 which is the Moke range on dial and I can't see how you could adjust to zero point on dail , I doing 19g in 48 to 50g out of local roasted Guatemalan 30sec at 9bar, the Shardor is twice fast as my Facile grinding and seems to be just as quiet. The Good: The price I pick up for $140.00 U.S. I think $160-$170 now, grinder is quiet, grinder is fast, the quality of the grind is very good, the built in grind timer works well, it has it's own catch cup or you can use the supplied porifilter fork, it has a main power button on the side and a Start/Stop button under grinder shoot where you would use Portifilter or catch cup to push button. A plus is it looks like SSP Burrs will fit this grinder. The Bad: The rubber matt that goes under catch cup does not stay in place I use double-side tape to hold it in place, there will be grind retention, I have not tried RTD yet because I don't use it with my Eureka grinder, but so far the retention seem very little doing single dose, the plastic housing seems cheap, if you use the hopper and bellow that come with machine and you single dose when using bellow the shut off gate in hopper bangs around had to duct tape gate open, I have new bellow coming for my grinder, this is a new grinder so longevity could become an issue.Overall: I think if this grinder would have been available when I bought my Eureka grinder and now that I know more about espresso I would have gotten the Shardor Professional 64mm Burr Coffee Grinder. So if you are looking to get an inexpensive 64mm flat burr grinder this could be the ticket. I would recommend this grinder. Who knows this could just be a hidden DF64 in a plastic case :)
