Yuki Sichuan Doubanjiang 130g

My boyfriend and I cooked with this broad bean paste last night and it made the BEST Ma Po Tofu I have ever eaten, way better than what they serve at restaurants in my opinion. The flavor is really incredible and it packs some serious heat, we also love that the paste is already pre-minced! Even though it is a tiny jar, due to how strong the flavor and spiciness is, it should last you at least 3-6 meals which honestly isn't that bad at all when you break down the price.The best part about cooking with this broad bean paste at home is that I don't need to worry about whether the broad bean paste is safe for me or not - gluten is not safe for me and is present in almost all broad bean paste except for this delicious brand from Japan. As is common with Japanese foods, this brand is also free from gnarly preservatives and chemicals, and tastes wonderful. I actually found this paste to be much spicier than the Chinese ones and so I will use half as much paste in my Ma Po Tofu recipe next time - I absolutely love spicy food but even for me this was a bit too much spice, although after eating it I felt refreshingly cool. 😅

This is my go to chili paste for mapo tofu. It arrives well wrapped.

Plenty of heat but with an excellent, strong flavor to match. I used this to make ebi chili and when mixed with the other sauce ingredients, the heat was preserved but also balanced out by the rest of the ingredients. I can't wait to use this for hot wings and other spicy dishes!

This made very yummy mapo tofu, and is the only gluten free doubanjiang I’ve been able to find anywhere. Just be aware, as others have said, that this jar is tiny. By scrolling through several pages of searching, I was able to find a 2.2lb jar for $22 vs. $19 for 4 oz.

A couple of Youtubers recommended this brand for recipes so my family and I gave it a try! Very flavorful and we have used it several times in various Asian-inspired meals. It has lasted a long time because a little can add quite a bit of flavor, but we will re-order when it runs out.

I am a celiac and I have gluten ataxia, and I cannot have ANY gluten. I did not have an immune system response to Youki Sichuan Doubanjiang!!! 🥳🥳🥳

Tastes great but they sent 100g jar instead of the still ridiculously small 130g. Very bad deal. Much cheaper and better if ordered from amazon.jp.
