Rather have it and not need it
Purchased this to add to self defense kit my kids and I made. Instead of buying the premade ones and paying for items we wouldnt use, we customized it for what we wanted. I havent gotten the chance to test it and hope I never have to, but I am glad I have it. It also has flashlight, emergency sound notification and sharp prongs near the electric part, seems to be a window breaker. So many functions for the price. It was pre charged and testing it in the air, scared my sons dog. So seems powerful. It fits well in my hand and doesnt take up much room in my purse. As for battery life, I will have to address that when I have a chance to find out. Overall I am pleased with the product.

Belt clip (flap?) terrible, but as a stun gun is great!
Nice little stun gun. belt clip is terrible, and button takes a little getting used to, but works well. First level is an alarm and flashlight, then it moves onto making people jump. Good loud cracks, hurts if you touch it... a lot. So yes, it does it's job. Managed to destroy a CD (it's OK, it was an AOL one), and it completely fried the small watch I placed it near. Does all the things I like! I feel confident knowing I can easily recharge this unit, no need for batteries, and can destroy any electronics or CD's I want, and it doubles as a defense weapon! Alarm is annoying and loud-ish, not that loud if outside and people are half a block away. it does seem to be like any other cheap personal body alarm, but the cracking it makes is far more threatening (Quiet when it's against someone... don't ask).

Really depends on your goal with this one.
So for starters, I went ahead and bit the bullet on this one and had someone try it on me. For reference I'm 195lbs male, and I had them shock me with this VERY briefly like just a second. It was fully charged at the time, and essentially in the brief moment it was held to my skin, I was surprised to find that it did not send shock waves through my entire body, I could only feel it at the point of contact on my arm. It mostly just felt like my arm was being burned, and the burning sensation remained a bit afterward. It did not cause my muscles to lock up, it did not cause me to lose the ability to think normally or react. That said it was unpleasant, but not unpleasant enough for me personally to want to rely on this as a method of self protection. I think it would have been far more effective and more unpleasant had we held contact for longer, but for just a brief moment it was more or less ineffective. This thing costs $23 dollars, and at that price point you can't really expect very much in regards to a self defense tool. Another thing to note about this item, is that while it does make an electrical sound, it is not the typical loud clicking electrical sound that I have heard from other more professional types of tasers, to me the sound this makes was much less intimidating, and it lead me to question the strength this thing is putting out and put me at ease a bit when deciding to let it be tested on myself. So all of that said, I am not exactly sure who this would be for or why you would want to carry it, I definitely wouldn't want to rely on it to stop an attacker any more than I would want to rely on maybe like, an electrical arc lighter to stop an attacker. In terms of ease of use it's fairly easy to use, there is a switch on the side that you click all the way up for shocking and then you hold in a trigger button on the other side to activate it, if you click the swtich just one click up to the middle position you get other functionality like an alarm sound and a flash light, which I have to say I am also no impressed by, the light is not very bright by just regular rechargeable flashlight standards (I would estimate no more than 100 lumen for comparison), and the alarm sound also is not very loud, for reference it is MUCH quieter than a standard smoke alarm. So I feel like this device is more akin to a dangerous toy than an actual self defense tool, best case scenario you whip this out in a self defense situation and your attacker is scared and runs off, on the other hand though if they are not intimidated as I think I personally wouldn't be, you may give someone a reasonable argument to use an actual weapon against you, which is definitely not what you want to do.

Great Features
I’ve owned a number of stun guns, and this one may have the most unique combination of features of any of them. It has several things that I find especially important. Of supreme importance you must have an efficient triggering system that is logical and quick to deploy. The lever type switch that is conveniently located right where your fingers grip is excellent. This unit also includes a siren which most stun guns do not have. The flashlight is nice though nothing powerful. Lastly, I really like having the battery charge indicator. That is a very important feature when you consider your safety and security may depend on having a good charge. Seems to be a good value at the present pricing as well.

Limited Effectiveness
I got this for my wife to use for security when she works on our rental houses at night. She is remarkably handy and saves us a ton of money with her DIY spirit, but I worry about her being in the houses by herself and leaving in the dark. This stun gun is a handy size. Ideally, it would be simple for my wife to operate if she was confronted by a predator. However, the "mode" button which switches from the middle position flashlight and alarm and the top "stun" position moves too easily and a shock can be delivered by accident. Also, the panic alarm is just not very loud. I would think anyone more than 20 yards away would have trouble hearing it. I don't know how strong the shock is on the stun, but just the sound of surging electricity seems to scare aggressive dogs. We walk our chihuahua several times a day and there is no shortage of stray dogs in our neighborhood. Somehow, dogs seem to understand that electric current is dangerous and just the sound of it scares them off.So, not unusable. Just wish they would redesign this stun gun with a stronger break between the stun mode and flashlight mode.
