What kind of tracker you get depends on your use case.In our case, we live next to a canyon with cat-eating monsters (coyotes) in it. It's vital that our little guy come inside before dusk, when the monsters come out. After we had some good scares where we couldn't find him until after dark, I bought this.The collar is thin and small, but sharp-looking. You can adjust how much force is necessary for the breakaway collar to break away based on your cat's weight. The device itself is slightly bulky on my slim young cat; he's 12 pounds, but long and thin, and you can see from the photo how large it looks on him. But it doesn't WEIGH very much. If the collar is loose enough to be comfortable, it will slip down in front, always; I'd prefer if there were some way for it to be on his back instead; you'd get better signal that way. And you don't have to worry about losing the collar if it breaks away -- it has GPS, after all.Setup is fine. You have to download the app for setup, and it walks you through the process. You WILL have to buy a subscription to pay for the server time and cellular data plan. If you don't want to do that, there are systems out there that are more expensive but come with their own radio networks. These probably don't work as well in the city, though. Once you've gone through setup, you can also view your cat's location through the web.We get about two days' battery life when we do NOT use low-power mode. We don't have geofencing turned on, so we don't need the most-accurate responses; if we really need to know where he is at a given moment, we can turn on LIVE tracking mode, which is incredibly accurate, down to a couple of feet from where the guy is, and gives updates every few seconds. This does burn battery faster. The battery life hasn't been an issue for us, because when we lock him in at night, we pull the collar off of him until the next morning.It's been fascinating to see where he's been all day. You not only get a path showing his travel history, it also shows a histogram with where he's spending most of his time. (He really likes the gopher holes down the street from us, and has even brought home a couple of presents from there.) And when we need to find him because it's getting dark, we've been able to. Fortunately, if we can get near him, he comes when my daughter calls him. And that has given us a lot of peace of mind.

I will have to admit I was a little sketchy about it. It is the size of a matchbox but more like a light weight matchbox car, but it is not heavy and it does not seem to bother my cat at all . I was using an airtag. After a few attempts to locate him with the with the air tag. Move to another location he’s near. No not ok. Like no not okay. Each minute is like an hour. I live in the city. It was the same with the tile . Of course I wanted the smallest thing possible. The stress it caused when it wouldn’t connect( itag and tile) It made me totally insane. My sister has a gps collar for her dog. They don’t make them for cats. I would prefer something smaller flatter as that is but not for cats even small dog one. I love my kitty. I had a little trouble with my charger, but it was more my fault. The only safe spot for me is my house and to just isolate your house only , as safety area on virtual fence is really is impossible. Because the satellites need a wide range. However, I know the dangerous spots. This allows you to put up virtual fences for bad spots and one for good spots. It gives you a heat nap of where he’s been during the day. So you could always wait and then put your safe fence around that area. It works out well. Other wise it seems like he’s running around when he’s really just in your house. So now I adjust the safe fences according to his movements. It’s nice that you can share it because my daughter will call and say is he out of the house because she gets alerted to. I just tell her I haven’t set up perfect yet. Response much quicker than a tile or airtag and a much larger range with an address.It is worth the peace of mind. I hope they comeOut with a small one. You do have to join a service to even try it out but you have a 30 day trial and it says you can get your money back.. since my cat is a dodger it was worth it. I also like that I could put it on whatever collar I want.. I opt for the ones that have elastic rather than a total breakaway because I sometimes walk him on a leash. So I really do say try it out 30 days. You got nothing to lose. I’m keeping in mine. If they come out with a smaller one, I will be very happy believe me. I’m tempted to put the itag on him as well. But this also makes a chirp noise if you hit to locate them inside your house. I also never take my cats collar off because that’s how the cycle starts. They get out lose the collar people think they’re a stray they don’t read to chip. Because they won’t take them to a vet. I take care of a few Ferals and I can tell you that I am sure that that’s how they started out. Breaks my heart. So I will hope for a small version or for one that is built into a collar, but for now I am happy. It also tells you how active your cat was and other cats around your neighborhood kind of like a Fitbit. Where is your kitty right now? I know mine is safe.
