ZINUS 8 Inch Spring Sensation Hybrid Mattress [New Version], Medium Firm Feel, Fiberglass Free, Youth and Guest Bedroom, Mattress in A Box, TwinOEKO-TEX STANDARD 100

After 15 years, my memory foam mattress and its box spring were more than at the end of their lives and needed to be replaced. Buying a mattress is a very personal and expensive decision and with so many mattresses on the market of which most you can't see or tryout physically because they are sold exclusively online, it is very difficult to determine which one is right for you -- and if you have a sleeping partner, it makes it even more difficult to find one that will work for both.My husband has had both a hip replacement and lower back fusion surgeries and needless to say he is very suspicious of the mattress-in-a-box concept and was skeptical of all of the best options I found online. To complicate matters, his back situation makes it difficult for him to go to a local mattress store to try out options there, so it took us FOREVER to come to an agreement about what mattress to buy and where. I gave up after a month of off-and-on searching but then it happened -- a particularly sleepless night on our old mattress with extreme back pain in the morning. That was the final straw. That nite forced us to get it in gear and make a final decision.We decided to try Zinus for three reasons: 1) the reviews online overall were great; 2) the company sold a sturdy platform foundation we could purchase separately so no box spring was needed; and, 3) the price for the mattress was incredibly reasonable for the options and features included. I have to say that we were still pretty skeptical about ordering a mattress online but figured if it turned out to be a big disappointment, we weren't out that much cash (and neither of us could fathom how we'd ever get a big queen-sized mattress back into a small box for a return!)Our Zinus hybrid mattress took about a week to get here, but came as advertised. I will say that the outer box was really beat up and broken, but no damage to the packaging around the mattress itself, thank goodness! I set up the SmartBase foundation unit myself (really easy and fast) and managed to get the mattress onto the base with a little maneuvering (it was pretty heavy - you should have seen me struggling to get it up the stairs to the bedroom!) I unpacked it according to the directions and almost immediately it opened up to the 14" height. Since the initial "roll out" I have not seen/felt any dips or collapsed spots as another reviewer experienced.All of this is very good and well but the real test is the sleep test. I NEVER look forward to having a new mattress because it always takes me at least a week of sleepless nights to break in one. In fact, I had readied the guest bedroom in anticipation of having to transfer over in case I found myself tossing and turning a night or two while getting use to the new Zinus. You know all of those reviews you've read about people claiming to wake up from the best sleep they've ever had or with no back pain whatsoever? Well, that has never been my experience, at least not for the first week of the breaking-in stage.Until now.Wow. This bed is fantastic! I am a back sleeper generally. This mattress provides complete support of my lower back as well as all other areas. No transfer of motion, no squeaks, and very easy to change positions, unlike some memory foam mattresses where you sink in and good luck getting out of the indentation you've made. The first night and every night has been a sound sleep experience for me. And yes, for the first time in forever, I get up and out with no back pain. (Thought I would never say that!) My husband with all of his back issues has said that his sleep has improved and while he will likely never be pain free in the morning, this mattress has drastically improved his sleep experience. I was concerned about some of the reviews stating that this particular Zinus mattress model we had ordered was too firm. However, I'm finding it to be just the right amount of support and comfort.I will update my review if I'm finding that the mattress is not performing as expected, but so far I am satisfied completely with my purchase. This experience has not taken the anxiety out of purchasing a mattress online for me totally, but I feel fortunate this purchase worked out well.

Best mattress ever- I have had a Zinus mattress in the past and always love them. Zinus has always been very comfortable- held up well even the foam after 6 years still exactly as it was when I first opened it.This mattress goes to a whole new level- as always it comes in a box and you think there is no way a mattress is in that box, then you cut the plastic and it literally expands within seconds to a mattress, it still amazes me !!This mattress not only has the cool and gel infused foam that Zinus is noted for but coils as well. Giving you a much firmer mattress still having the memory foam and so comfortable.This is very thick and as always top quality material, I did buy the 12 inch and could not have been happier.Zinus as always is way ahead of themselves in providing comfort for an amazing price.

I have waited for a couple of years since purchasing to write my review! Mattresses need time...For the price, I would say this is a good mattress. It has worn well, not dipping or sagging anywhere.My husband and I are two not-small people sleeping on a queen and I never feel him move. If I put a cup of coffee on a tray, beside me on the mattress, I can move around without worrying about spilling the coffee. I think that"s pretty impressive, at this price point.The mattress is slightly too short for our standard queen frame, I dont know what thats about.But over the years I have developed hip pain, not my joints but on the pressure points on the outside of my hips. I finally realized, that it is because of the mattress. It is on the firm side. I sink into it enough that my waste feels supported but the pressure points in my hips are constantly sore. I usually end up on my back and then I wake up.I will say however, that I have no lower back pain. I have slept on memory foam mattresses that just immediately kill my back. This mattress is really nice on the back.I am also hot all night. I don't know if the mattress is to blame but I noticed someone else saying it was HOT and I think maybe it is.So pros: Great price, no partner movement, even in a small bed, no sagging - seems to be aging really nicely.Cons: a little bit too firm (if you are a side sleeper) and seems hot to sleep on.

Queen 14” - I had to write this because so many had issues with the sides not being firm. I had the same issue and was going to return it. I’m so glad I didn’t! First of all, it came fast and was packaged in a way that it could be opened without exploding. My 20-year-old (just home from the army) thought his way was better and was thrown across the room. That alone made buying this bed totally worth it. Anyhow, once the bed was open, it plumped right up. We had to sleep on it that night and it was sooo comfy but the sides were droopy. So droopy that I fell out of bed. Not as hysterical as my son getting launched, but still funny. After a few days, the bed was more amazing and cozy but the sides still sucked. I started my return but, due to work, I wasn’t able to follow through. Thank goodness, because after about a week and a half, the sides and corners firmed up, PERFECTLY!! I added a topper because I like a little more fluffy feeling and now it’s perfect. BEST MATTRESS IVE EVER HAD! On a side note, we bought this mattress because on of our daughters bought the 10” mattress for the guest room and we loved it every time we stayed there. So, I can say that I HIGHLY recommend this mattress to anyone! My husband and I are 60ish, with bad backs and knees, and he’s 300 pounds. We both sleep like babies and have, significantly, less pain. Getting up in the mornings are so much easier now. It’s like a miracle. Just a hint, we ordered a bunkie board because we no longer use a box spring. This makes tucking In sheets way easier and protects the mattress from breaking down underneath, (over time) where the frame slats are. So to sum it up, relax, be patient , and sleep well.
