Great Read
I read this before going to Seville for the first time. It was an enjoyable story filled with history and descriptions of the area. I just returned from Seville and feel I appreciated and understood the culture much better for having read the book. Highly recommend!

Spain, Flamenco, and Spanish History
I was attracted to this novel, “The Shadows of Seville” by David Canford, because it combined two topics I love: the city of Seville and flamenco dance. I wish I had a chance to read this before a recent tour of Spain; it would have made the tour guide’s recitation of Spanish history more comprehensible. The book explains so much of Spanish customs and traditions, and the horrors people endured during the time of the Spanish Civil War. This novel humanized the story of the people who lived during those times, not just presenting it as dry history. So if you’re contemplating a trip to Spain, do yourself a favor and read this book!

Haunting
The description of life in Spain under Franco is described brutally. Two people rise from the ashes of a bleak future. Their fact save them from such horrible fate. At the end, they find the love that eluded them for long. Conrad SAMAYOA.

Fascinating and Intense
I was drawn to this book by its intriguing title. I have visited Seville and having explored the city, I was right alongside each character. The author put thought into the intense emotion of each character and the human resilience in all. A page-turner!
