Small And Automatic, will help a novice know correct setting to charge any type Battery.
The media could not be loaded. I've been working on cars since I was 13 years old in the 1960s, and have charged hundreds of batteries over the years, and believe it or not, I've had the same battery charger since 1975. When I took the photo of it for this review I did a search and just found out (it was manufactured in 1974). It's made for 6V - 12V batteries and is only a 6-Amp charger because many cars back then only used small 6V batteries. Problem is it takes all day to fully charge todays more powerful 12V batteries, but it is still working. Now 50 years later in 2024 I decided it was time to get a new charger, so I ordered this Smart Battery Charger, and the difference is night and day. This charger is 1/5 the size of my old battery charger and it has everything to maintain multiple types of batteries in one charger. First off when you connect it to your battery it automatically goes to the correct type of charging mode for the battery you are connecting it to. I connected mine to my car first with an automotive battery and it started in the automobile battery charging mode. It also has multiple other modes and settings for different types of batteries, used in lawn mowers, motorcycles, boats, and anything else you have. I don't know for sure if that is automatic, because I'm only charging my car batteries, but I know you can also use the green button to manually select what you need by looking at the icons on the charger screen.I could only check it out by hooking it up to one of my car batteries, (none have a dead battery to test) but it did show me the battery voltage and that it was a good battery. I did get a chance to see how it works other than just charging, and it seems to do everything it says it will do. The charging screen will also give you the voltage of your battery the amps the temperature and all the other information that I didn't get with my old charger. Another thing it will do is stop when the battery is fully charged and turn off, or if left hooked up it will turn into a trickle charger that will keep the battery fully charged while not in used for long periods of time with just a small current.

Easy to Use
First off, this is a battery charger, not a stand alone jump box (it’s appearance may confuse, as it resembles them). It is small and lightweight, with a 36” ungrounded power cord, and attached charging cables.Once connected to the battery, the LCD display will show the battery voltage, so a general idea of the battery state of charge can be estimated before charging. The user controls are an on/off button, and selection of one of five modes: car/agm/lawnmower/motorcycle/repair. These selections are really a proxy for maximum charging current:car=10 A, agm=8A, lawnmower=5A, motorcycle=3A. The repair mode is used for reconditioning older batteries that have lost capacity and may be sulphated . The charging algorithm is constant current (aka bulk phase) followed by constant voltage (aka absorption phase) and float. Each mode also adds a “pulse charge” which I think is a brief desulphation phase which only lasts for a short time (3-5 minutes).I used the charger to charge a “dead” battery in my car, outside in cold weather (34 degrees). On connection, the charger indicated the battery voltage was 11.7, my voltmeter indicated 11.78. The battery is 12v/100Ah , and the 11.78 voltage suggests that the battery was at least 60% discharged, and would require 100Ah x.60=60Ah to fully recharge. At the chargers 10A maximum current, this would require at least 6 hours, likely longer, to full charge.Set on “car” , charging started at 10A at 14.2v. Over several hours, the voltage slowly increased, while charge current remained 10A. When voltage reached around 15v, charge current was slowly tapered while voltage remained constant (absorption phase). At around 6.5 hrs., the charger indicated “full” and entered float, where voltage was held at 13.5. After several hours, the charger indicated “off”. After a 24 hr. rest period, the final charged battery voltage was 12.62, indicating a full charge. The manufacturer says that this is also a battery maintainer. Likely, if left connected after charging in the “off” mode, the charger will resume charging when it detects a voltage drop. However, there is no actual specific indication on the charger that it is actually in maintenance mode, and the manual does not clarify this. This charger is a good choice for those who periodically need to recharge batteries, where recharge time is not critical. For faster recharge, say a car that needs to be used sooner, a higher current charger with a boost function is faster, or a jump box or cables to get an immediate start.

Overall, the FOKKAH Battery Charger is good as long as you're not in a hurry.
It was time to update my 25 year old 6-12V analog battery charger. The FOKKAH Battery Charger for cars, boats, motorcycles, and lawnmowers 12 volt - 24 volt worked out pretty good. Not only does it cover a variety of applications, but it has a very nice digital display that can show a variety of battery/charging related information such as voltage, amps, time to charge, and there's LED's on the right to indicate the type of battery detected. What's great about this charger vs old school "dumb" chargers is this claims that it can automatically detect battery sulfation and acid stratification, and with the latest pulse repair technology it can restore lost battery performance for stronger engine starts and extended battery life. This is great for folks that may not drive their cars as often as they should be, of if the batteries starting to loose performance, this may keep it going for a while longer until the battery needs replacing, so it could save money in the long run.The charger (not a jump starter, charger only) is very light, it includes a 36" power cord, and a 36" cable with the positive and negative battery cable clamps.Overall, you the FOKKAH Battery Charger is good as long as you're not in a hurry.
