Seems good
I haven't yet got to the depths of autumn and winter and the true test of this dehumidifier, but I've used it on damp days and for drying a duvet and I'm happy with it. My previous De Longhi compressor dehumidifier died after nine years and had no modern digital technology, nor any rating over moisture removal and it cost a fortune at the time. Since then, technology has very much moved forwards but I still know what to expect in terms of performance. The machine is very heavy (I thought our previous one was bad). It has smooth moving castors on the bottom so wheeling it around on one floor isn't an issue but if you want to take it up and down stairs you need good arm muscles. The machine casing and water collection container appears sturdy and well made. The water container has a good capacity (enough to require emptying before you try to wheel the hefty machine to a new location)! The touch button functions are relatively simple to operate and the screen display of humidity is bright and clear. It allows you to set your own humidity target and tells you the current humidity, and provides a few different settings. There is no specific clothes drying setting so I've needed to do my own guesswork. The sound levels are quite loud but not as loud as my old De Longhi. You can select quieter night time settings. Personally the sound levels don't bother me; from beneath an upstairs room it's a low hum drowned out by the TV, from a room next door it's a gentle whoosh and within the same room it's still far off the sound kicked out by the pedestal fan we have. It's not whisper quiet and we didn't expect it to be!We've used this in the room which is most prone to damp (two outside walls and adjacent to the bathroom) and it quickly took the humidity levels down from 85% to the 40% we selected, and drew out plenty of water. We've also used it to dry a king sized winter tog duvet which it did brilliantly well, within three hours. Our 10kg dryer struggles to dry it at all and my previous dehumidifier would have been working all night to achieve the same. On the landing it removes damp across all rooms upstairs and any damp coming upstairs from cooking. This is where we usually site our dehumidifier unless we are drying clothing or our dampest bedroom needs a "quick blast".The heat produced by this dehumidifier is enough to raise the room temperature by at least a couple of degrees over a couple of hours. This is a feature we wanted, as we find the heat by-product very useful! In autumn and winter it's nice to have a warmer, drier area. The efficiency of this model isn't something we've looked at but from experience dehumidifiers are far cheaper to run than dryers for clothing, and they make the home warmer by removing the damp. So we haven't calculated the electricity consumption down to the penny. But we think this is probably using around 13-15p per hour. In the winter, using a dehumidifier upstairs means we don't have the radiators on (except in the bathroom) and the rooms don't suffer any damp as a consequence. All that's left to ponder is how long this will last. We hope it will give a good lifespan!

The beast from the east
This machine is a beast. We have 3 dehumidifiers and this is by far the best.prosRemoves loads of water from the air - outperforms other dehumids hands downLarge capacity tankEasy to operateVisible readings on top of unitMin. humidity lvl is 30 (some only go down to 40)3 settings, High, low and quietfilter is easy to hoover cleanits a decent priceconsit's bigit's heavy especially when fullits very noisy on the high settingWe have it downstairs so the noise isn't an issue but if you want it near where you sleep even on quiet mode it's still quite noisy.

Thoughtfully built, unexpectedly powerful for being so quiet.
2 quick examples of how this dehumidifier impressed us, and then our experience after daily use during a rainy week.1) Drying clothes inside... They dry in less than half the time.2) We have a little persistent condensation in a double glazed window... And it went.ReviewIt's a heavy thing. The box it comes in is as small as it can be while being secure. It needs to sit upright for 24hr's before use.Its heavy, so you push it when you can, and the wheels work great, even on thick carpet. To lift it up it has simple indents on either edge. Initially I wanted it to have a handle on top or on the side so it could be dragged around, but I think it's a design choice; dangly handles would be more likely to break, it has a sleek minimalist design, and it is meant to be carried with deliberate attention. It is heavy.Switching it on, you have a number of options, but it just works straight away. Apparently it senses the rooms humidity, in the dark picture above it is at 67, if left on it will bring that number down to what you choose (50 by default). You can change the fan speed, mode, or set a timer, but it's intuitive, I read the manual, the rest of the family were fine without. It has an alert and will automatically stop if the internal water collection bucket is full, it is controlled by an elegantly simple floating sensor, which seems the most reliable way to do it. I haven't had the tank completely fill yet, because I'm emptying it, but it will fill up. You can bypass the internal tank by attaching the included hose to the valve on the back to keep the dehumidifier running indefinitely, which seems cool but not something I want to need. When switched on it first cools down the room and then makes the room warmer, over about 15 minutes. It won't replace a heater, but it takes the chill out of cool damp days.

Cleaning of filter
Whilst I find this to be the most amazing of dehumidifiers, once the light for the clean filter comes on- no matter how thoroughly you clean it. The red light does not stop flashing.Other than that the dehumidifier manages to draw out an unbelievable amount of moisture from the air.
