Miranda - Series 2 [DVD]

Still very very good!
I think Miranda Hart herself was a little worried about this second series, not really knowing if the public would be as thrilled the second time round. It was logical that she should be. Last year she surprised most in offering a sit com that hadn't been done for years and that many (me among them) found pure comic genius.I just adored her character, so full of human frailties, so full of warmth. When I sat in front of the first episode I must admit I thought to myself 'Can she do it again? Has she had time to garner some new ideas and make a show that will be both similar to the old one in everything we love about it but that will also spring some good surprises?' The first two shows, although they contained some great moments made me fear the second series would be inferior but then... came episode three... I must have watched it twenty times at least by now and it still makes me laugh. I can't tire of it. From the moment Miranda and Gary stepped into that posh restaurant and from the moment I saw Miranda's face after Gary suggested they should give it a try it was firework after firework of sheer enjoyment, from the fire, to the burps, to the 'al dente' moment, to the bees, to the wax trapped Miranda, to the stallions in her flat, to her mother's "Go Miranda".... it must have been 20 years since I laughed that much.... Simply brilliant!! Yes, of course, the episode with the psychologist is the weakest but on the whole, Miranda Hart has managed to do what I thought she couldn't... she has surpassed herself! And as long as she is willing to lull us with that wonderful voice of hers, I will be willing to listen...

This is, what I call, Great Comedy
I enjoyed series 2 better than series 1. The session in the psychotherapist with just two of the regulars was a gem - portraying their innermost fears. I could sense a parallel with the 1961 Tony Hancock "Bedsitter".On the DVD are some interviews, which were available by pressing the red button when broadcast: one for each episode but of course, I saw thee as a block, some days after I had watched the actual programmes. Not so sure how well these worked - the style was not crisp enough for me, but perhaps that is because there was less likely to be a script as such and some comedians or comediennes do find the script, even if written by themselves as essential. There were a lot of 'yeahs' but is that common amongst people these days? However some illuminating facts such as Clare Balding and she were at the same school, and there is a hint that she might be prone to 'trouser coughs'!However as that was a bonus I still feel it deserves five stars. It made me, what I call, laugh.

Finally!!!
Yes! Series 2 of Miranda is finally available =D Why it takes a whole year for them to release these DVDs when they are so hugely popular is completely beyond me, but the saying "better late than never" definitely applies here.Miranda is back for another bunch of episodes and she is still hilarious. The running gags and character catch phrases come back and are accompanied with hilarious new jokes, brilliantly performed slap-stick scenes and of course a cheeky head tilt to the camera.Miranda's life gets more hectic in pretty much every way this series, including her relationship with Garry (which I love more and more with each episode). A suprising discovery mid-series puts Miranda's perspective of her relationships on spin cycle and make for more hilarious episodes as she tries her best to deal with her life...without falling over too many times. This is such a comfy show. What I mean by that is, it's the type of show you'll come home to after a hard days work and watch with a cup of tea. Miranda's world is a warm, friendly, yet hilarious place to be. Thank Miranda for series 3 coming soon to TV!

Miranda Series 2 - as good as the first series!
Comedy is a very personal business, it is what cracks your own individual funny bone; unashamedly Miranda Hart's humour does it for me! The BBC has gathered a brilliantly balanced cast for this and juxtaposing the total opposites that are Miranda Hart and Sarah Hadland trying to work together in a novelty shop immediately opens up a wealth of possibilities. Stir in Patricia Hodge as the overbearing mother trying continually to offload her daughter onto any unsuspecting male that passes by and Tom Ellis as the real, but highly improbable, love interest and you have a genuinely lighthearted mix that tips into the hilarious on many occasions. A good measure is that the cast seem to be enjoying it as much as the audience. I watched the first series on DVD Miranda: Complete BBC Series 1 [DVD] and immediately purchased the second hoping that the humour had held up; it most certainly had!!!
