Great Souvenir of a great exhibition
Great book that reflects a fabulous and really interesting exhibition at the Tate Modern, UK. The text is very informative and discusses the history, influences and story of the Blue Rider Exhibitionists and others. The print quality is good and the photos of the works are a decent size and quality. There are a number of important Expressionist works that are missing from this book and which appear in other books, but that's primarily because they weren't a part of the exhibition. So if you're after a souvenir of the exhibition this is a great book to have, if you're after a fuller collection of Expressionist works there are other books that might be more suitable.

Good illustrations, anachronistic essays
Very good illustrations of work from all The Blue Rider group but the essays seem to want to impose today’s values on a group working over a 110 years ago

Colour reproduction is poor on some pictures
The show was really good and the pieces in this book are great, especially the Kandinsky paintings. The texts are suitable for a catalogue like this. Sadly, some of the colour reproduction in this book is really disappointing, especially in the darker works.

Good reproductions, bad texts
I bought the book for the reproductions and, unlike the previous reviewer, I am happy with them. However, the texts dwell heavily on all the usual 21st century concerns and issues in an attempt to force the art of the Blue Rider group to relate to them. But the artists concerned lived in a different era with different concerns. It would be more enlightening to try to understand them in their own context.
