Monteverde Avenue of the Baobabs Fountain Pen (beige swirl) - F

This is the first fountain pen from Monteverde I really like. I have not been impressed by their omniflex nibs and had to send one back because the nib was so stiff that it damaged the paper with zero flex. But at least this stub nib writes very smooth and lets me write the way I like, with bold lines and a larger handwriting. I have never liked fipsy writing with fine or extra fine nibs.This fountain pen will lend itself perfectly for the shades of some Noodler inks which are wasted on fine lines but look great with bolder strokes. It is a substantial pen with a larger girth, so if you prefer slender pens this is not the pen for you. I like thicker pens, they make for more comfortable writing with less tiring because I don't have to clamp down so much to hold on to the pen.Stub nibs are great for anything from Calligraphy to everyday journaling, which is exactly what I use them for. They slow down my writing a bit which is good because I can write very fast but also a little sloppy. Not with a stub nib.A beautiful pen both in looks and performance. Highly recommended.

This is a gorgeous big pen and I highly recommend it. The resin is beautiful. The omniflex nib is really smooth and i found it works best with the provided converter rather than a cartridge for smoother flow. Use the converter and you won’t have issues with flow. I have the same nib for the Trees Sequoia pen. iIt’s just beautiful and a great value. Highly recommend!

It’s a beautiful fountain pen much nicer than the picture. It has a nice weight and balance. However the nib does not flex much.

It's actually prettier IRL than it was on pictures and videos. There are like microscopic bits of glitter in the resin. It looks regular from distance, but if you look closely, especially under strong light, entire pen has this nice subtle shimmer.Function wise- grip is nice and thick, long enough to be used unposted unless your hands are really giant. Writes nice and smooth, no issues there.

I purchased the Green colorway in Extra Fine.I really like big pens, so when this came on my radar I decided to try it out.I do really like the size and shape of this pen, but the colorway just doesn't blow me away... it doesn't have a lot of depth. Maybe the other colorways look better.For a pen that sells for close to $100 at other stores, I expected a more premium look I guess.The nib was absolutely unusable when it arrived. This pen had the tightest tines I've seen. After working on it for a bit I opted to completely replace it with a spare nib i had lying around.I'm not stranger to tinkering with and fixing nibs on my pens, but this one was just atrocious.The cap seal works better than the Monteverde Impressa I bought in 2016. The pen didn't dry out overnight when capped.I'd sworn off Monteverde pens after my Impressa, but figured I'd give them another shot.Save your money - they are so many pen brands out there that have better quality control.

Good looking pen and the Broad nib is a smooth and wet writer.

I have a small collection of fountain pens, and I must say that it is my favorite. I have thinner and fatter pens, but this one is perfect. I have been practicing my penmanship, and this is the only one that doesn’t tire out my hand. I have a medium nib. I haven’t used the cartridge yet, but the converter is excellent. Inking my pen was fast and efficient. Started immediately with no skipping.

I’m disappointed. The description led me to believe it was wood. It is NOT. there is a very thin wood veneer ring below the clip. The rest of the pen is plastic. Don’t waste your time or money.There is no weight to it. It feels and looks cheap. I might as well be holding a Bic pen for all the gravitas this pen has.Don’t bother.
