Camp Chef NGKIT Natural Gas Conversion Kit

Hooked right up, after drilling out the orifices in my new grill!

I recently installed the natural gas conversion kit on my Camp Chef triple burner stove. As others have said, it was a difficult installation, and after it was complete, the flame was only about half the size of original. After emailing back and forth with customer service, they mentioned that "When you hook up to natural gas you lose about a third of the btu output on the stove. Natural gas dosen't have the pressure or the heat of propane. You can drill out the oriface in each valve to .082 inches or a #45 drill bit to get the heat back up. Once you do that you can not use it with propane again." That's a direct quote (copy and paste) from their email, misspelling and all. And when I asked if they sell replacement orifices, they offered a whole valve assembly.Long story short, don't waste your money unless you are comfortable purchasing new valve assemblies.

We have our smoker using natural gas rather than propane. The conversion kit was everything we needed to do that except for the needed drill pit to adapt the smoker to the lower pressure of natural gas. Camp Chef provided us with the instructions to convert it in a pdf when I called to make sure we weren't messing anything up.

No issue with this gas hose or the quick connect that came with it, but Camp Chef does not need to advertise this as a conversion kit. This is not a conversion kit, it is simply a hose with a quick connect. Good quality, but advertise it for what it is. If it were a kit, for my case, being that I bought their Smoke Vault 24 (SMV24), it would include the drill bit needed to drill out the orifice to fully convert it to Natural Gas. I was able to find the instructions from their website in pdf form and instructions were fine. Bit is arriving today, and it calls for a #51 bit....really? I had to order that online as well, because big box stores do not carry #51 bits. Anyways, great hose and quick connect adapter, but I got slowed up because of what they're calling this item. Would recommend, but also I recommend looking on their website to do their full conversion.

Easy enough to convert. Directions with pictures. But would have been really helpful if they just included the drill bit. It took my three hardware stores to finally find a #51 drill bit. Cost: $1.30. Turned a 15 minute conversion into an hour and a half.

Arrived as advertised. Easy to change from L.P. System. Length gives a lot of latitude on placement of the grill.

When installed, this did not deliver enough gas to get the temperature where it needs to be for most cooking. We took it off and went back to the tank!
