Got this for an artificial turf project for my dog. This worked well, it didn’t cost a lot! I would buy it again, if it was necessary.

I could not get the screws in the bottom rod but the tool can still be used and does the job as needed.

I like the fact that it is all metal, and it went together easily, but it is not nearly heavy enough to deserve a five-star rating. It works if you are just trying to tamp in small grit, but if you are tamping down heavy clay soil or conglomerate stones it will be way too light and you will be killing yourself to pound it down.

I was tamping soft dirt and every place that has the screws and nuts bends out wards. The pole should have been a single pole and thicker metrial. Thay sure don't make things like they use to . surly not rec mended for gravel. Hope this helps not to buy it and waste your money on something you can't even finish a job with.

As I was walking through our local Home Depot yesterday evening, I spotted a major-brand steel tamper with features and price almost identical to this one; but I purchased this one from Amazon because, compared to the one in the store and most others, this one has a larger stamping area. This one has a 10" x 10" stamping area. Most others are only 8" x 8". The larger surface area of this stamper translates into less work for the user. Plus, this stamper is well-constructed and appropriately weighted to get the job done.
