That is a great question and is something I had to research...extensively. First, let me warn you that these freeze dried berries have a short shelf life. The shelf life is about 3 or 4 months before they are far less effective. I made the expensive mistake of buying the large jar thinking they would last me a year...not a $ saving move. Now, as far as the container is concerned it is indeed a container that as designed to hold 8 ounces...of probably a liquid. That 8 ounces just indicates the actual jar size which is totally irrelevant. That said, the actual weight of these is 1.02 ounces. Approximately! The count of the number of half berries varies just as nature varies say fruit size. Each jar will contain between 280 and 320 half berries. Again depending on berry size. To complicate matters more you will find that after these berries have the seed removed you will notice varying half berry size. Unless you are using a high amount of these don't make my same mistake. Get the small size and start by using 2 or 3 half berries depending on the half berry size. With everything I have explained I can say that these truly are a miracle but they need to do a much better job of explaining the product for people like us that analyze the best deal.

Q: What is the shelf life?

When keeping the lid sealed and the silica packet inside, the berries will last till their best buy date, which is 7/31/2021. Freeze drying keeps it preserved for years but they taste so good, they usually don't last that long :) Thanks for asking! Kind regards, Hank Watt Nature's Wild Berry
