If you are new to target shooting this will substantially improve your accuracy
I have a small Walther PPK (a James Bond favorite) and could only rarely hit anywhere on the paper of an FBI-Q target at 25 yards. After buying a Magrail Floor Plate Picatinny Rail Adapter (sold by Mantis for $10) and attaching it to the bottom of a spare magazine it was possible to securely mount the Mantis to the pistol as a "bump" on the bottom of the hand grip. After a brief calibration process, I started training with the Mantis doing 50 rounds of dry fire practice several times a week. After reviewing the graphs from the Mantis App I could see that at the trigger break point the gun was wandering off the mark because of my poor grip and trigger finger movement.Following the pointers given by the App and after a few weeks of practice my Mantis score moved from the 70% range into the 90% range. The next time I went to the range I was shocked to see that 90% of my shots were inside the FBI-Q bottle target at 25 yards!A few observations:This is a great way to train and significantly improve your firearm proficiency in the comfort of your own home without the inconvenience and cost of ammunition and driving to the range. Moreover, it is a great opportunity to train yourself to properly handle your firearm and reinforce the golden rules1) Assume every gun is loaded and2) Never put your finger on the trigger until the target is safely acquiredAfter a few weeks of training these behaviors become burned into my muscle memory. The "Magic of Mantis" is that when you dry fire a gun there is no startling flash, bang, and recoil which causes your reflexes and grip to unconsciously compensate for this much anticipated explosive event. This compensation causes your aim to move off target slightly before the tiger break point. After multiple brief training sessions spread over several weeks (at least 50 dry firings a session) you and your body will begin to psychologically adapt to a stable steady trigger pull regimen. When you consistently hit the 90% mark you have finally arrived and if your sight picture is good, accuracy is a natural consequence.Lastly, to tie together the dry fire training and live fire training, try to concentrate on placing your shots when you visit the range. By "placing your shot" I mean concentrate on seeing the sight picture spot on the target and flash of the muzzle simultaneously. The last thing in your memory after you fire your gun is a steady sight picture spot on the target superimposed with the muzzle flash.I can't recommend the Mantis enough--no better training tool on the market.

Better than I expected
I'm getting back into target shooting and was looking for some way to improve my dryfire training. I was curious how it worked as it doesn't make any mention of targets like the laser training versions do. It appears to be a small motion sensor that measures your movements before, during, and after the trigger pull with the assumption that you're trying to hit whatever you're pointing at. As such, it can't really help with your actual aim but seems to help a good deal with providing feedback on your motions as you execute a shot.Using it with a HK USP Tactical (with an aftermarket Picatinny rail; it needs a pic rail) and an iPhone, both the device and app work well. Pairing is fast and easy. The device's batter life is kind of short (jumped from 100% to 17% over an hour but it was the first full charge) but it recharged back to 100% in something like 30 minutes (although I wish it used USB-C instead of micro USB). The app is maybe not super intuitive but is simple enough to learn and use so far.The only hiccup I've had with it is about one shot in fifty it will give an abnormally low rating even though I didn't make any sort of large movement. I'm averaging a 96.2 out of 100 shot rating but the abnormal ones would be like 20 or 30 and once it gave me a 3 on a shot that seemed fine. It may just need diagnostic data sent to the devs in the app.So far it's worked to help correct minor errors in untimed shots. Next step is reducing time to get an accurate shot off. Overall it seems like it will be helpful and like a very good value for the price.

Amazing
I thought I was a good shot until my wife and I bought this to sharpen our skills to pass a qualifying certification. I was very surprised with the amount of feedback the app provided with trigger pressure and possible results of a missed shot and more. We stuck to the training provided and both passed our shooting qualification with 99%. My wife couldn’t have been more confident after understanding the mechanics of shooting. Well worth the price.

Very Effective!!
A learning curve, but I figured it out and it works great. The Mantis Academy doesn't work, the Mantis does.

Here's what they don't tell you about this product...
Does it work? I don't know. The things that are not obvious (and certainly NOT on the ads) kaept me from using it even ONCE. In this world of inter-connectivity and raging spying on citizens, I was horrified to find during the app set up that:A.) The app rejects my address (as a lot of second rate apps do) as an "Invalid Address" . It's the same one that I use every day, even on Amazon, from a huge German e-mail provider. Last year I was told by a Chinese app that it was due to not being on an American or "popular service". She confessed Information from my e-mail service can't be easily gathered (subpoenaed).B.) Although the app gives an option for "general location" and PRECISE location", it refuses to go forward after entering "general". Why does the app need my exact GPS location, for a laser dot practice system? Because the app easily gleans this info from the phone and to give someone your exact location, and with multiple use, most likely your home. So, what do we have, when someone is actively using this device? The precise location of someone with a firearm that practices with it, how often the practice, and probably even evidence of how good they are with it. You can't tell me this is for marketing purposes. Mantis doesn't need this information at all. I'll leave you to ponder who does.I'll send this back directly to the manufacturer, worked over with a hammer. I'll protect my privacy, thank you.

This system is idiot proof and absolutely amazing!! I love the convenience of not having to go to the range, the noise and clean up afterwards. Keep your skills sharp from your living room.
