Not a water dish
Easy assembly. Like the long cord for the solar panel. Only issue is keeping water in it because our dog thinks it is her new water bowl.

Buy It, and a small Transformer/ Update/ Update #2/ Update #3/ Update #4
First this is a beautiful, well-designed table-sized fountain. It would disappear in a large yard, but is just right for a small deck where I placed mine on a three-foot round glass table. The packing, with the typical light Chinese thin cardboard and just a few pieces of foam made me wonder if the terra-cotta would be broken. All of the five pieces survived, except for one very small hairline crack on the edge of one of the three small pieces. I doubt it will be a problem. After the cheep packing, It was great to find that the fittings for the pump were very well designed. For example, the bung plug used to seal the water hose in the bottom of the top pitcher fit just right- no leakage and you not so snug that the water flow in the clear plastic tube was cut off. The DC plug to the solar cells was also fitted with a water-tight seal.My major negative about the fountain is that the solar cells (as other buyers noted) do not supply enough power for the pump unless you have them in direct sunlight. On this deck that translates to the fountain pump shutting off at 1:00 PM.I had noted that another reviewer had solved the problem by buying a hard-wired aquarium pump (available on Amazon) for, as I remember $17.98 and replacing the smaller pump that came with this fountain.I will try another approach. I looked at the pump power requirements, as stated on the label (5 to 12 volts and .6 to 2.6 Watts), did a conversion to Amps and found this plug-in transformer on Amazon that looks like it should work. That hard part was finding a AC to DC 6 Volt transformer with the very low amps to match the small (4 by 6 inch) solar cell panel:Kastar AC DC Adapter Plug-in Class 2 Transformer Power Supply Cord Wall Charger (Extra Long 6.6ft cable cord), Input 120V AC 60Hz and Output 6 Volt DC, 200 MA (2/10 of a amp)Sold by: Kastar USA on Amazon$7.99You will also need to splice the low volt wires to connect the transformer to the cord that goes into the underwater pump, making sure they are weather resistant. I just used a lot of that black electrical tape and will keep the connection it out of the rain.I'll report back when I have received the transformer and used it for a few weeks. Please do not follow my advice without checking my figures with a amps to Watts conversion site and realize that I am far from an expert in the field of wiring...In other words plug a transformer into this fountain pump at your own risk. I figure if my pump burns out there is always Plan B, the aquarium pump...Regardless of the few problems, I am very satisfied with my purchase.UPDATEI did convert the solar cell power to a small transformer and have been running the pump 24 hours for four days. So far all has worked well. I had to splice the line, a the two female plugs were of different sizes. The lines are of different gauge (be sure to use a wire stripper) so I would recommend a drop of solder to connect the twisted lines after you see that it works. I connected the grey line on one side to the red on the other, then black to black. Be sure you buy a very low amp and watt (for example 6 watts, .2 Amps) transformer, like the one recommended above and sold on Amazon.UPDATE #2The power source conversion to a 6 W, 2/10 (.2) amps transformer (from Amazon) is still working. I was wondering if the pump, designed for daytime (solar powered) use would hold up. It has. I leave the pump on 24/7 and it is working very well. It is nice to run into such a product that is "overbuilt."Update #3July, 2019: The pump is still working, but I need to clean the filter with increasing frequency. At this low price, I recommend the unit-just ditch the solar panel and add the transformer recommended above.Update #4June, 2021: That little pump and the transformer I bought (also on Amazon) are still going strong, working 24/7 and we only shut it off when on vacation. If the water flow slows down and cleaning the little filter on the pump does not work, pull off that plastic tube and clean it out with a metal skewer- you will be surprised at how much slime builds up in there. We could put something in the water, but the birds like to drink there.

Appearance. Performance
I puchased the terracotta. Lasted 3 weeks and one dish was knocked off and broken so no more fountain. The sun has to be directly shining on the solar panel in order for water to run

Perfect for me!
I wanted a good size fountain for my back porch to replace a very old one that I had. The birds really loved bathing in the old one and it was very hard to find one in the same size and design. This one is perfect! The birds love to get in it and splash around and it seems sturdy.I was very nervous about getting something like this and it breaking in transit, but this was packed very carefully and everything arrived in perfect shape. It's very easy to put together.I can't speak for the solar powered pump as I'm using the one from my old fountain that fit this one.I'm very happy with this purchase.

*Love This Water Fountain *
The media could not be loaded. I loved this fountain on my front patio so much that I bought a second for the other side. Easy to put together once you read the instructions. The sound is lovely. I added a few sea shells, as seen in the video. The only downside is that it only works when the solar panel catches the sunlight, as noted in their description. I wish it had battery storage so it could stay on when a cloud passes. Great deal!

I made it electric!
I received my fountain within 3 days of ordering it. It came in excellent shape and no pieces were missing or damaged. Set up took maybe 20 minutes -if that. The pump worked excellent! The water flow was adequate for the size of the fountain. The noise of the water sounded loud enough for my porch. The size is exactly what I had expected based off of the measurements and what others reviewers mentioned. It's on the small size but it's perfect for the space I have and the price was affordable. I was extremely disappointed to find out that the solar pump does not hold a charge what so ever. I live in Arizona so we have no shortage of sunlight. This means that during the day (while I am working) the fountain is working and running yet when I get home and want to enjoy it, it stops running because the sun has set. Well what's the point of that?!!! So I got creative and went to the local pets store and bought a "Power Head pump for freshwater or marine aquariums" for $17 including tax. It took some trial and error but I hooked it up and made my fountain electric! I also added battery operated water copper lights!!!! Love it!!!! It's so soothing and relaxing to listen to well after the sun has set. I am taking one star away because the description reads: "This fountain will even store power to use up when the sun goes down." I found that NOT to be true.

junk
I had this for less than two weeks and the bottom catch bowl formed many cracks and all the water drained out. No it was not mishandled, and the temp. here is mild, it's shaded most of the day, it was fine upon delivery. I'm going to try flex seal but really should I have to fix it already? What a waste of money. I do not recommend fountains in ceramic, I've had another fountain in a different material for much longer, no problems. Blow the advertised pic up it looks like this one is already forming cracks. It is rare I give a bad review if I could give a no star I would. Also the tiny pump suction cups do not hold and it floats to the surface.
