Doesn’t work at all
Got the unit. Put it in and wired it up. The unit turns on and everything works on it. There is no sound, so I bought the fiber optics head unit (also another $100) and still no audio. I have a 2007 Mercedes GL450. My recommendation? Stay way clear of this product it’s absolute garbage. I got this well over a month ago and have tried everything. So there’s no option for a return. Don’t give these people your money.

Sleek Looking Refresh for an Update OEM Look
I have been trying to consider whether to use one of these Android Screens or a more traditional car head unit for my 2007 GL450. This car's display was outdated when it was new and I was hesitant to change it out because of the way these COMAND units integrate with the entire car.The primary reason I went ahead with the upgrade was for the integration of a back-up camera which my vehicle was lacking. I took the chance on this unit based on the low price and functionality promised.Cosmetically, this unit looks great when installed. The screen fits the OEM location with minimal gaps or "slop". The screen is bright, has vibrant colors, and just looks like it was meant for this vehicle. The screen is responsive to touch inputs and operates smoothly. It will occasionally lag up for 1-2 seconds when opening a resource intensive app or something but generally works smoothly without problem. The android operating system is a stripped down version of a tablet. Do not confuse Android operating system with Android Auto. These are two distinctly different things. This unit is capable of Android Auto functionality through an app called ZLink. You basically have to pair the phone and head unit via bluetooth, when they connect to each other, it signals to the head unit to activate a wifi hotspot, and your phone connects via wifi-direct and then you can open the ZLink app and it will display Android Auto. This is the process every time you want to use Android Auto and you need to be patient for the wifi hotspot and connection before trying to enter ZLink or it might bug out. I found that if you try to use the "auto start" option it does not provide adequate time and will bug out. It is best to give the car 15-20 seconds before trying to enter ZLink so the wifi connection can establish before opening the app and success is much higher. If you intend to use this as an Android OS and use apps like Google Maps or Waze, you will want to have LTE hotspot in your vehicle, either by your phone or using a dedicated hotspot with its own SIM card. The WIFI antenna is very weak but should be able to maintain a connection to a hot spot within the vehicle. WIFI speeds were very slow regardless of the internet speed capability so streaming Netflix or something may be hit or miss. I have a wifi router/repeater in my garage and the connection was strong but speed was slow. My primary use case for this was Android Auto and that functions well once you figure out how to launch the ZLink app properly.Installation was not too difficult, especially if you have ever done this type of work before. The unit is supplied with all of the connections you need. There is the main screen, a CANBUS decoder, wiring harness, microphone, GPS, Antenna adapter, etc. My vehicle has the Harmon Kardon sound system which uses a fiber optic communication loop where all the devices in the car are inter-connected. I had to purchase an additional fiber optic decoder box (+$100) , which takes the analog audio output of the Android Unit and converts it to a fiber optic signal that the vehicles amplifier can use. For the most part, the wiring harness included with the head unit and the fiber optic box was all plug and play. The wiring harness came pre-wired for 2 different car types so one plug was for my car, and another plug was for a different vehicle. The unused harness connector will just dangle there, but is no problem since there is plenty of room for it behind the screen once installed. I actually ended up pulling some of the pins from this duplicate harness to power the fiber optic box, so even though its normally unused it ended up benefiting me during installation. The installation manual is very minimal and everything is designed to be plug and play, meaning every connector is unique and they can pretty much only be plugged in their required location.I plugged all the wiring into the head unit and connected it to the factory wiring and everything powered up nicely. Initially the CANBUS communication was not working, so I had to go into the settings, make sure the correct profile was selected, downloaded the update, then re-activated the correct profile and then it worked perfectly. This allowed steering wheel controls, door open/close display on the screen, and also the provided the reverse signal to the screen to switch to the back-up camera view. At this point I had not installed the camera so it just displayed a black screen, but otherwise worked as intended.Seemingly everything worked perfect. The car would turn off and the screen would turn off although sound would continue playing for about 30-40 seconds before it turned off as well and would then "pop" the speakers when it shut off completely. Starting up the car, and the screen would power on and fast boot to the home screen in 1-2 seconds and again sound would begin with a "pop" as it powered on. For the most part, everything worked as good as I expected and was willing to live with the "pop".After the next day or two, the car battery was completely dead. All I could figure was that the stand-by mode consumed too much power even though everything was supposed to be powered off. It's difficult to know whether it was power drain from the screen in standby mode, the CANBUS decoder, or the Fiber Optic module drawing power. The factory wiring harness does not provide an accessory 12V wire, which only supplies 12V when the key is in, instead it is a constant 12V even when off. My solution to fix this was to tap into the cigar lighter circuit which is a 12V only when the key is inserted. Since I still had to wire the back up camera, I needed to run wires from the tailgate to the head unit I was able to run a power wire from the cigar fuse in the trunk using an "Add a circuit" fuse adapter. This fixed the issue with causing a dead battery and the "pop" from the speakers, but now requires a full boot sequence of the head unit instead of the fast boot standby mode. So now it takes about 30 seconds before the head unit is completely booted every time the car starts, the biggest drawback being that the reversing camera won't work immediately when starting the car, otherwise the 30 second boot-up is not a big deal.As mentioned, the battery drain issue could be due to the head unit standby power draw, the CANBUS decoder, or the fiber optic box. Regardless of which is the cause, it seems unavoidable since they are all required to be plugged in and the factory harness only provides a constant 12V. My solution of running a 12V circuit from the cigar lighter seemed to be the only viable option to prevent the battery drain issue. I basically pulled the pin from the main harness for B+ and wired it to the cigar lighter. The factory FM antenna adapter worked perfectly and reception is fine. I have read with other model years the FM antenna is normally powered and reception will be weak unless you provide the 12V power to the FM antenna. I did not have this problem and FM reception was plug and play with the harness provided. The GPS antenna supplied with the kit was not used. I ended up buying a FAKRA to Coaxial connector adapter which allowed me to use the vehicle GPS antenna. This was also plug and play and the head unit recognizes full signal on the GPS satellites. There is no built-in satellite radio functionality, so this is just the navigation GPS.The microphone I did not use or install. Although the sound quality will probably be improved, the head unit has a built in microphone that provides acceptable call quality. I did not want to bother trying to wire the microphone and try to find a nice mounting location. It just wasn't worth the effort considering a working microphone was already built-in to the screen. It's not perfect but its good enough. The reversing camera was quite challenging to install, but this is more of a vehicle limitation, not the kit. The tailgate trim all has to be removed, fishing the wire through the tailgate boot was difficult, and mounting it in a good location required some creativity. I ended up cutting a notch out of the license plate lamp housing to feed the wire through and screwing it into the lamp lens. Fishing the wire along the length of the vehicle to the dash was easy enough. There is a small gap that runs the length of the head liner and you can just push the wire into that gap. The quality of the image is great. This was the primary reason for installing this head unit and definitely the most challenging aspect of installing, but overall worth it.Final thoughts:If you are not 100% confident in your ability to install this unit and deal with some of the challenges I encountered, do not bother trying to install this, or find a professional. If you are not willing to live with a slow boot up and this is a deal breaker, do not bother trying to install this. If you have the Harmon Kardon audio system, you have to purchase the $100 fiber optic box which increases the cost quite a bit compared to just needing the screen.
