Does anyone know how to keep it from wasting 1 inch of tape everytime I print out a 1 1/2 inch label?

After opening the PTlite10.exe file to type an address in, click on the down arrow to the right of the "P-touch Editor Lite" on the top bar of the window. Then click on File - Tape Setting - Margins, and click "Small". That will prevent all the excess blank tape from being added to the right and left margins of your label.

Can I print labels in different languages like Chinese

Conceptually, this is just a specialized thermal dot-matrix printer that prints on label tape, so it can print pretty much anything any Windows program can print. Personally, I've used it for Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Cyrillic, Hindi and Hebrew text. If it works for all those, it will clearly work for any TrueType or other Windows font...(I say Windows because I've never used one with a Mac, but if you can find a functional printer driver for whatever OS you're using, it should work much the same way.)

How many lines of text can you print on a label? I have a portable p-touch that allow a maximum of 3. I need 5. Thanks

As pointed out by Kindred Kel, the tape width and font size will determine what will fit. On 1" tape, for example, I get 4 lines of text at a 12 pt. Arial font, and 8 lines at 5 pt. font (due to the small size, I did 4 in bold, 4 in regular). There is a narrow section of the tape at the top and bottom of the width that is outside the "safe" area and that can't be printed upon.

considering the PT-P700 to print hundreds of mailbox numbers to be affixed to outside mailboxes. Good idea or bad idea? If ok idea, which tape? R

I haver never made labels for outdoor use. I am sure there must be specific tapes made for outdoor use. The PT-700 can readily handle your project. It is an excellent label printer for the money.
