Another Masterpiece
Hong Dian has created another masterpiece in the N23 fountain pen. I love it. Here are some specific reasons why I admire this pen:Design and build quality: I own the Blue Rabbit with the silver trim long blade nib. The pen is extravagant but tasteful in design, finding the ideal mix between flashy and understated. It fits well in my hands, making it ideal for both lengthy and short writing sessions. This pen was solidly crafted and feels extremely durable in my hands.Writing Experience: The pen is smooth. The long knife nib glides across the paper like writing on ice, leaving an ample supply of ink on the page that does not appear too wet. I used Diamine Aqua Lagoon in my review. The N23 laid down a consistent and reliable line on several papers I used. This pen provides excellent value for money. It's a good pen at an affordable price.Overall Impressions: I commended the N23 as a pen that performs above its weight class. This pen is ideal if you want to branch out from basic fountain pens without making a large investment. The pen's quality, paired with its writing capability, makes it a remarkable option in its price category. In conclusion, the Hong Dian N23 fountain pen is worthwhile. Its elegance, comfort, and performance, combined with an affordable price range, make it a significant market challenger.

Sturdy and very pretty
This pen is a great value. It takes international standard converter/cartridges and looks amazing. I had this pen in my case next to a Pilot823 and I got more questions/comments about this one than the Pilot at pen meet ups. It’s fairly light but very comfortable in the hand. The metal is cool to the touch, which was really nice in the summer. The standard #6 nib has a cute rabbit on it and it writes fairly smoothly. I will say that this pen is a bit on the dry side and will dry out if you don’t use it, but at this price point, you don’t have to save it for special occasions and it can be a workhorse pen. It’s not what I reach for first, but I never regret picking it up when I do.

Wonderful pen and a great value.
The media could not be loaded. I own pens from $10 to $1500. This one has become a favorite. Extremely well-made and a wonderful writer. Beautifully designed and perfectly balanced, posted or not. Cap seals well so the nib doesn't dry out as quickly as most cartidge converter filled pens do. The long knife and extra fine nibs on this model are both wonderfully smooth and glide along the page with all the inks I have tried. The beauty of this pen is in the details. Every detail is so well-thoughtout, from the engineering, to the design and finishing. It is flawless. I love the N23. I now have all 4 colors!

Lovely pen, but experiencing problems
The broad strokes of the Long Knife Medium makes writing a pleasure and the pen's body design is absolutely gorgeous. It was a favorite of mine for the time I've had it.However, after a month and a half, it seems that the threads between the plastic cap and body are wearing down. I've always fully capped it but not tightly. More than half the time I try to remove the twist cap from the body, I untwist the body from the nib instead. Now I only twist the cap closed halfway but have been experiencing hard starts more often with some inks, which greatly diminishes the writing experience.Edit: I just read that I wasn't suppose to wash the plastic with hot water, which could cause distorting. Not sure if that's the reason for this but just a warning.

I wanted to love this.
I really had higher hopes for this pen, but it just....does not write well or smoothly. It's very scratchy, the ink flows very unevenly and poorly. In the interest of fairness I did try this pen with a few different inks, on different qualities and types of paper, against similar priced pens I own. I tried checking videos to see if this was somehow user error in filling this specific pen/converter style. As far as I can tell, no, the ink just barely flows. It's possible I received a defective pen, but I can't even really use it. I'm torn - it's aesthetically very pretty, and I'd love to keep it if the nib even wrote consistently WITH the scratchiness, but I'm likely going to return it.The barrel and cap were very well made, though. The rabbit engravings were nice and didn't have any dust etc. It was a nice weight both posted and unposted. It was shipped/packaged nicely. It was shockingly easy to clean and change inks. I can tell care was put into this pen, I just wish it wrote well enough to justify the price/keeping it in my collection.Update: I got a replacement and can firmly say: this is a low quality pen. The nib on the second one was much better (did not scratch or damage the paper) but still almost unusable due to inkflow issues. I also agree with the previous reviewer, this pen is extremely plasticky feeling.

Beauty, Light, Smooth, great price! What more could you ask for?
HongDian did it again! I have the two Forest pens by them and they write very smoothly with extra fine nibs. So I grabbed the black and gold N23 with the engraving and the three rabbits. A friend told me that 2023 is the year of the rabbit and with three on one pen (Two on the outside, and one on the nib) it should bring a lot of good luck. Well it sure did with the beauty of the pen, and the nib! This nib is an extra fine (0.4mm) and it puts down a very nice fine line (my fav) . I filled it with diamine blue/black ink and it is so smooth it is like writing on a piece of glass. You can post it, but I am a little afraid to do so due to that pretty engraving even though the cap does have a protective inner sleeve. You really don’t need to, but know that even though it is a brass pen, it is very light. No, it won’t be my pocket edc pen, but it is my everyday desk pen. 5 stars for writing, beauty, and fitting nicely in my hand!
