Sounds great and a beautiful lightweight guitar
The media could not be loaded. This guitar is beautiful! And sounds great! If you’re on the fence I’d say go for it!! It’s a great deal! It’s very lightweight and great for travel or home, great for beginners but still great for people who have played for a long time.

A unique guitar
As an owner of several guitars, I was struck by this acoustic-electric guitar with its unique built-in pre-amp which when charged provides effects without being plugged into an amp. It is beautiful to look at and well constructed and the acoustic sound was impressive. Unfortunately the pre-amp would not charge, so I am awaiting a replacement, so I can only judge the effects from the videos I've seen, but I have high expectations from what I've already heard and seen and anxiously await its return. Check out the videos. Just got my replacement! Let it charge for the better part of a day. The effects are striking, not even "subtle" with the volume up. If you are considering getting this guitar, do not hesitate.

Sounds great even without the effects
I bought the 'original' for the novelty of the built-in effects, but have also found that this guitar is a gem even without the effects. Yes the reverb and echo sound nice when playing and is worth the extra money for this electronic version. But I also discovered that this guitar is very high in quality and craftsmanship. Nice frets, smooth satin finish, very full and deep sound for a smaller short scale (louder than my gs mini), and not really expensive. I'm glad I got this.

Underwhelming effects.
I think this is a comfortable guitar to play. But if you have larger hands it may be not be.The compact size is nice, except for the neck width..which feels a bit more narrow than a full size guitar. The neck is also thicker than I expected on a compact guitar. The strings seem to be good quality, but the set up action ( height off the neck) is higher than it should be, especially at the nut. Beginner players may find fretting barre chords, like F & B more difficult to achieve cleanly.I do like the overall feel and build.Very modern and durable.Tuners are above average with minimal slippage. Better than a lot of mainstream full size guitars Ive played.Fretwork is consistent with clean smooth edges. Intonation is actually decent. Now to the sound...The acoustic tone on this guitar is on the soft & mellow side.It doesn't project as much volume as I had hoped it would. It does have very nice clear high frequency response. But the lower range tends to sound muffled. The low frequencies are there. But the volume isn't. Even with the internal FreeBoost system engaged, it really doesn't raise the output volume very much. Not as much as I had expected based on the videos I have seen. The guitar does resonate more if its not held directly against your body when played. But that isn't a very natural way to play guitar. The built-in effects are subtle. The internal microphone seems to only function when the guitar is plugged into an amp or PA. And the volume wheel for the mic inside the sound hole creates a static noise when its adjusted..which gets amplified into the sound signal. Very annoying. The effects can sound rather tinny at times.A tone control would help. This unique guitar does have a pretty good tonal range for its size. Treble strings ring clear and lovely. The bass response gets a bit boxy at times. I suspect the HPL top is likely a bit stiffer compared with normal tonewoods. But overall, played acoustically, it is a pleasant sounding guitar. My only disappointments are the internal effects are too quiet... even at the highest setting. And the scratchy distortion on the mic gain wheel. In summary, this is a nicely designed, very comfortable, good looking, and good sounding guitar. But I am disappointed with the internal FreeBoost system.

Company obviously cares about the product
I have never seen a guitar shipped in this careful a manner before. It was shipped inside the best padded gig bag I've ever seen, packed in molded styrofoam. This company really cares about getting the product to the customer in good shape. I just got it, and only noodled a bit, but the electronics work (they are on the bright side, which I like, but others might not). The scale seems really short, and the string tension is thus a bit higher than I'm used to. No fret choke, I am seriously impressed with this for the price. Seems a little heavier than the 4 lbs advertised, but I'm getting old anyhow. Neat guitar and great value.

Beautiful to look at, the perfect travel guitar
First off, it's visually a beautiful guitar. The chrome ringed offset sound hole makes for a unique presentation, and the stark white front and back with the light wood sides make it a piece of art. I found the effects a little tinny compared with the Enya X3 Pro Mini that I had purchased previously, but then again the X3 failed to work after 20 days, so there's that... The neck is very playable and stays pretty much in tune (it's not carbon fiber after all) and the magnetic cover over the truss rod is a great idea. My one complaint about the tone is the boominess of the bass strings - loud, but muddled compared to the higher strings. You learn to compensate with your picking style to get a better mix, but I can't say the Lava gives you a balanced sound on barre chords or cowboy chords. Not bad, just different.Overall, I really like the Blue Lava Original, and the sweet gig bag is a bonus.

Sounds and Looks great
The media could not be loaded. Sounds very good with both picking and strumming.Size is small enough to be easily portable but still gives off a great tone. The effects are chorus/delay and reverb and it sounds surprisingly good with the effects both on or off. Also it sounds awesome plugged in. Overall, I wanted for a travel guitar and this BlueLava Freeboost is both portable and sounds better than I was expecting. Plus it looks really cool in my opinion. This would be a good guitar for a beginner/intermediate player because of the smaller size.

Outstanding...the Big Brands better watch out
This is such an excellent instrument. Why? It sounds better than most of the USA guys we know produce. Fender especially have issues...no new ideas...sell reissue crap. It's not the same. Gibson, same thing. Quality control is terrible with these and their sister brands. Gretsch is being ruined by Fender. I just bought one. Gretsch.Wired wrong, loose everything and frets sticking out an 1/8 inch on each side. $1505.00. I hope Lava kicks their butt!
