Good collection, misses a few songs..
This collection collects all of the UK Oasis singles, from 1994-2009.It achieves this well, but some of their best/biggest songs were not singles in the UK:Champagne supernova? NopeDon't go away? Nopemorning glory?rock and roll star?half the world away? It's better than stop the clocks which is essentially most of their best work but ignores Be here now, the single "whatever", and most of their content after bonehead etc had left.A lot of disc 2 is their later work which isn't that good - some b sides and songs from the first 3 albums would have been better than a singles set.The US version includes Supernova and the japanese one has don't go away since they were released as singles over there.Last track here has sunday morning call added as a bonus which is a neat song, probably one of noel's best.Worth a buy, since it's the only viable way to own whatever now, but if you want all their best songs, the box set releases of the first 3 albums are all you need, or buy this and the standard versions of morning glory and definitely maybe.

EXIST...
Everyone knows Oasis - you may be the faction who recognizes Noel and the band as amongst the best guitar based song writers of the last 30 years or the other faction who just seem to think they're arrogant and loutish... When you look at these 2 groups of listeners you can't help but identify them as those who 'get it' and those who 'don't get it' - fair enough either way...Ultimately an appraisal of this edition should be viewed skeptically, quite rightly, as I'm no doubt in awe of the music, but I swear by what I'm about the say: any preconceptions aside, when you sit down and listen to these discs, immerse yourself in the live show and the memories it'll evoke, and pop the videos on in the background while you're playing Scrabble at 3 a.m. on a Sunday morning, it really dawns on you that there was an incredible ability in these men that was shared with the world from the start of their career to the finish...It may have been a mixture of many things over that time that produced this incomparable body of work; whether it is the pain in Liam's voice holding up by the brilliance in the songs formations - the stone gathered moss under the duress of whatever changing relationships permeated the individuals over the 15 years...It may very well have hurt or scarred them along the way, but I dare say they wouldn't trade it for anything, this music is the definition of modern classic......and quite selfishly I don't think I would trade it either, because in 2010 this stands unequalled...Diamonds.

They really were a good singles band
OK, I admit that Oasis never really matched the excellence of their first two albums and they were influenced(ie: sounded like!!)a lot of other bands. But listening to this double CD made me realise that they produced some very good singles. It was 'Some Might Say' that first made me sit up and take notice because it reminded me of Slade which can only be a good thing. From then on there were a lot of singles I liked, some I wasn't keen on but by and large Oasis were a very good band.I'm not mad on 'Roll With It' and 'Go Let It Out' and 'All Around The World' do go on a bit. But 'Live Forever', 'Supersonic', 'The Importance Of Being Idle', 'Whatever' and 'Falling Down' are excellent and capture the band at their peak. Yes, some of the lyrics are basic and don't even make sense but so what? It's the overall sound that matters and this band delivered some cracking songs. If you can't stand Oasis then you won't buy this, it's as simple as that. But if you think that you have liked a few of their singles then you might well be surprised at how many more were better than you originally thought. I reckon that I like about 90% of the stuff on 'Time Flies 1994-2009' and that means that this is generally very good and worth five stars.
