Ben Sayers Men's XF Pro Chipper, Black/Orange

Bought this relatively recently but have already reaped benefits. First use was at the driving range - I would definitely recommend a bit of practice first to understand the 2 swings - and also used it on an 18 hole round.First swing/shot is the one I really bought this for - within 5 yards of the green. For this you use the club as you would a putter with a pendulum action - this lifts it over the longer border and gives it a run up over the green. Works excellently. I am a relative novice and had found difficulty around the green - hitting fat and thin balls as well as stuttering swings through lack of confidence. With the chipper though it is far easier to control both the loft and the distance. I would estimate it saved me at least 2 shots over the 18 holes of my first round.The second shot is for lies around 50 yards out and for this more of a wedge swing is used. The effect is that you get some lift but a much flatter trajectory than with a wedge which means the balls forward momentum is higher giving a lot more run for your chip. Now it should be noted that I used the club during very dry conditions so the run on may well have been exaggerated but I did find the shot much easier to control than with a wedge. Just to be clear though, if there is a bunker in the way then leave this in the bag and get out a wedge!!In summary, if your short game is good then you may not get a great deal of benefit from this club but if, like me, you feel you are losing shots around the green then this club will be a great addition to your bag. I will keep practicing with my wedges but the chipper is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Bought this for my dad as a birthday present he struggles with chipping and has chipped in a couple of times with this club it seems reasonably made and is actually quite nice to play with. Don't get me wrong this is no Odyssey chipper but it is much better than the rubbish you get in Sports Direct

Used like a putter this club enables you to jump the ball over the rough and fringe near the green whilst keeping the ball at low level therefore reducing risk round the green. Especially good for higher handicappers. Even the big name manufacturers sell them now!

Ideal for chipping

Didn’t know what to expect when I ordered but was pleasantly surprised with the Quality!!Good weight! Accurate!!

This club performs well from up to 40 yards for a weekend hacker like me. A more accomplished golfer could probably use it as effectively from 60 yards or more. The grip and action is similar to using a putter and I can achieve straighter shots from up to 40 yards off the green. Concentration is important, but, while it’s still possible to mishit in terms of direction and distance, I’m now finding that it enables me to get closer to the pin and I’m scoring more pars even if I don’t quite reach the green in regulation. I can without hesitation recommend this club and at just under £20 it’s a genuine bargain!

Great chipper at an ok price. Ridiculously small child size grip. Had to buy an adult grip and re gripped it myself.
