This book is fascinating!
The media could not be loaded. When I bought the book, I thought it was a simple colouring book aimed to understand how the brain is divided, but to my surprise, the book is quite thick and has far more information than that.Divided into 9 chapters, it takes you on a journey from brain structures, nervous system and how the brain begins its formation to name a few and the illustration are fantastic.Happy Colouring!

A very useful revision aid
This may look like it is designed for children, however I can assure you it is full of incredibly detailed, anatomically correct diagrams of the brain, nerves and histology. Was a great "revision break" as it was relaxing to fill in, but at the same time helped you gain understanding of complex anatomy. Cannot recommend this book enough for university students having to learn brain anatomy.

As an artist I enjoy the colouring from a child upwards
I agree with the authors that by reading and actively colouring there is a reinforcing process operating consciously and subconsciously. Reminds me of Mindfulness in action. I am aware that I am remembering not only the functions of the brain but can recall the visual parts that I have coloured in.It is important to take time over the chapters and do the work well. There is little point getting ahead of oneself. As an artist I enjoy the colouring from a child upwards! to the more complex diagrams. I use this book in conjunction with other books on neuroanatomy and neuroscience. If you have patience then I would recommend this book as an excellent solid learning foundation to neuroanatomy.

Pictures wonderful - text terrible
This is a brilliant book in some ways and, I'm afraid, a disaster in others but its brilliance outweighs its negative aspects. The idea of quietly colouring in pictures of the brain to learn its structure really appealed to me and I'm enjoying the discipline and the playfullness in colouring in my book. The pictures are comprehensive and go from depicting the basic structures into very complex and specialised areas of the brain and nervous system.Choosing the colours, coding them and then `colouring in' really helps to make the structures and functions clear and memorable. What is not appealing is the incredibly dry and academic style of writing. The authors are clearly good at breaking down pictures to make them easy to understand but they have forgotten to do the same with words. I use this book as an example in my writing workshops of how to hide your main point with complicated words and structures. The first paragraph starts `This is a book of illustrations (plates) and related text pages in which you (the colourer) color the name (title) of a structure and use the identical color for its structural representation. The titles are listed on the plate, and following each title is a letter printed in small type (subscript). In some cases, a number (exponent) is added to the subscript. In most cases, titles are arranged in alphabetical order of the subscripts, starting with A.' It goes on!They take 2 and a half A4 pages to explain how to colour in - something that most children grasp intuitively! And unfortunately the text that accompanies the brain pictures is just as dense and difficult to understand when they could have said the same thing using simple English. They've hidden the complexity of the science in complicated language structures and it's a pity. But don't let the text put you off because you will remember and understand much more about brain structure and function by colouring in this book. So if you've ever struggled to tell the difference between your caudate nucleus and your nucleus accumbens or just want to see how your hemispheres are different then this book is great.

The perfect brain colouring book
Bought this as a psychology student doing neuropsychology as a part of my degree - and it is perfect for this! Super detailed, and helps you get your bearings and remember the different parts of the brain. Really good, though it probably offers way more pages and details than you need at an undergraduate level. In other words, superb value and quality for your money.

A++ Well Thought Out, Very Detailed
I got this to help with my science and senses module.I know colouring may at first seem a little childish but it really does help information sink in. It also helped to do it when I was feeling a little overwhelmed with uni work. The book is really well thought out and the instructions are very clear. The only slight negative is it actually goes into a lot more detail than I needed. There is however a section in the introduction giving a list of what to colour depending on your level of study which was really useful.I probably coloured less than half the book it does seem like a bit of a waste but better to have too much than too little information. I guess I may return to it later if I ever do further study as well.

Ideal for Students & Beginners
I bought the Human Brain Colouring Book to learn more about neuroscience - a daunting subject for the complete beginner. But the colouring exercises make learning fun and although I don't understand all of it, a lot has sunk in. The great thing about this book is that it can be used by just about anyone who is interested in learning more about how the brain works. I'd definitely recommend it.
