Great Mic and Great Sound
Fantastic mic as you'd expect from Rode. This is my 4th one as I expand and I always choose Rode!

Extremely impressive microphone
Extremely impressed with this Microphone. I use it for frequently for an episodic series on YouTube (channel is War Mysteries if you want to hear the quality) and in conjunction with my Canon DSLR, produces beautiful clear directional sound. The function I wanted is the gain boost, which is something this device offered that other shotgun microphones did not - it gives +20dB and - 10dB gain options on the primary channel (it also can record a safety channel which is handy). This is a great feature because DSLR amplifiers are crap, and by turning this down in the DSLR settings, the microphone compensates with the gain boost - essentially, this gets rid of that annoying hiss you get when you record video and audio with a digital camera. It works extremely well, switches itself on automatically when it receives auxiliary signal from the master device (be that audio recorder, camera etc) and it has a rechargeable, removable Lithium Polymer battery, which itself lasts between 80 and 100 hours.Perfect.

Great for interviews and shooting on the go.
Great mic at a great price. Can't go wrong with Røde and their 10-year guarantee.I use it to shoot interviews and it is perfect for filming video on the go. It has a lightweight yet steady frame and good battery life (when using reputable batteries of course).I would recommend you buy the deadcat if you are filming outside, although the audio will be usable without one in light wind. The only drawback is the 9V battery, while they do last a long time, I would rather it be rechargable.I use the mic with a Fujifilm XT3 and they work perfectly together for video.

Great microphone for all types of filming!
After using the Rode Video Micro for my YouTube and client videos, I thought it was time to upgrade my audio. I needed a high-quality audio source that would help me produce better content with my Canon M50.One of the most common issues I’ve found with previous microphones is forgetting to turn them off and then batteries run out. This is why I love the automatic power feature which turns the microphone on and off when the camera is turned on and off. With the power for the mic you have several options with either the rechargeable battery, AA’s, or constant Micro USB power. This is really useful as it means there will be very few opportunities where the mic is out of power.I also really like the variety of features that the mic has. This includes the high pass filter, gain modes, and safety channel. The best of these for me is the +20dB mode as my camera doesn’t have the best preamps. This gives me the opportunity to have really good quality sound.Overall, this is a really good, professional microphone with some great features. I’m yet to find something that I’m not a fan of with this microphone and look forward to using it for several years. This is certainly a microphone that I would recommend to others.

Used by the Professionals, and it is Obvious why!
Rode is the safe choice when it comes to audio-recording. Almost everybody in the industry seems to be using these at the moment.I bought this to replace my Rode Videomic GO, which was a brilliant add-on until I really needed crisp sound with low background noise.I had a small issue in which I could not work out why the microphone would not turn on, as I thought the battery was proprietary and included, no where suggested or stated that it would require one square battery. Thankfully I had one closeby, and after a short battle with the foam and the battery door, the battery was inserted.the +20db gain switch was appreciated, and almost always required with both a Canon 750D, and a Lumix GH4R. Only once being dropped to regular levels for a loud music event.I have seen and used some of the more budget shotgun style microphones, but the sensitivity, brand reliability and overall build quality of this microphone really drives home the classic saying "You get what you pay for". Definitely worth every penny, and if the product is ever on offer, it would only increase it's value.

Boost your sound quality and give videos a professional edge
When we are concentrating on visuals and framing, it's easy to forget about the sound. Yet poor sound quality is often the reason we stop watching a video. Even so, I didn't believed how big a difference an external mic would make until I plugged this into my DSLR.I decided to go with the Rode after hours of research. While watching Andyax demonstrate the mic on YouTube I was sold and I've not regretted the purchase. It has transformed the sound quality on my videos. It is a must-have for your DSLR and worth every penny considering the edge it gives to videos. I also have the Rode lav mic as well to give me some options when filming.I use Canon and to get the best results I switched the in-camera sound to manual and turned down the levels. I switched the Rode mic to +20 and that got rid of the hissing that some people have complained about. I can't claim credit for this fix, I got it from Andyax. Cheers guys.

Popular for a reason
The Rode Video Mic Pro delivers on expectations. Following a number of video reviews online I decided to purchase this microphone (and the deadcat) for my professional video work. The -10dB & +20dB ranges make this a very versatile microphone. Just a few things to note, if you're using it with an older DSLR (like the Canon 5D Mark III) make sure to turn the camera recording volume down as low as possible and use the microphone in the +20dB range, or preferably use an external video recorder as the noise floor of these cameras totally eliminates the benefits of using such a quality microphone. Whilst this mic has a shoe mount and is intended as an on-camera mic, when possible use on a boom or otherwise mounted close to your subject as you'll get much better clarity and minimise unwanted noises (this microphone has good directionality being supercardiod). All in all a very nicely designed microphone, just don't forget to turn it off after use.
