having almost given up with gardening i tried these nematodes and they have been really successful.insecticide treatment would have cost hundreds of pounds and with the new regulations were not that effective anyway.I am not keen on using chemicals but with vine weevils i would have happily used the most potent insecticide in the world or poured petrol over everything and set it on fire. apply this in spring and follow up 6 weeks later and finally in the autumn.these nematodes have helped control the weevil and given me new life in the garden.

I have been using nemasys vine weavil killer for many years in our nursery, ever since it first was produced so I am very familiar with the method for applying and using this product.However in the past couple of years I have noticed it is becoming less effective. In the past I would apply the liquid to the pots and a couple of weeks later tipping out a pot would find numerous vine weavil grubs dying and going orange as they shriveled up. All grubs in the pot would be dead or dying.Nowadays though I am using the liquid more concentrated and soaking each pot more than in the past but even so the grubs are not dying. Again and again tipping out pots I am either finding healthy grubs or one dying but the remainder still alive after over 2 weeks. This is not how it used to be and I do not know why this is.This year I repeated the treatment after a few days and the grubs are still not dying. As I have thousands of pots to treat this is a serious problem which so far I have no solution apart of to try and find something different to use.
