Didn't Work For Me
I was hoping this economically priced static meter would solve my problem, but I had to return it for a number of reasons: 1) The user manual was not clear on many areas and did not help in using the meter, 2) the white LED that's supposed to illuminate the screen in dark environments was hardly noticeable, so basically useless. 3) The method to converge the two red LED light circles to position the meter at the proper distance to the object or surface being measured did not seem to allow the meter to measure anything. 4) removing the battery compartment case was ridiculously difficult. Perhaps I received a faulty unit, I don't know, but it simply did not perform or meet basic expectations. Your mileage may vary.

Works well
I need to check static on shuffleboard tables, buckets with board wax and this helps me with that.

Electrostatic field meter works well for electostatic charges.
I was happy to see this is actually a Simco FMX-003 device, which has been recalibrated in Japan and the CofC is included with the order. This field meter outputs the voltage over a 1 inch distance from your device to the sample. The voltage on materials can be read from a further out distance but I’ll need to know the distance (inches) and multiply that distance by the value on the meter to get volts per inch. This field meter can pick up voltages from objects (eg., styrofoam) from over a foot away. This device picks up electostatic charges, where something like the GQ EMF-390 cannot. If you want to measure the total charge on an object (in Coulombs or electrons) you’ll need a Faraday pail and something like a Vernier charge sensor.

it work right our of the box
it came extremely well packaged. easy to work with considering i never used this device before i learned how to use it in 10 min. if you look up youtube do a search there is a video that will go through the entire process of unboxing to how to use the machine and how to store in one video.

No guessing work now
Till I bought product, vinyl antistatic work has been a gussing work, now I have a solid foundation to work with. Good repeatability.

Decent Buy
This product works well for measuring electrstatic potentials. It comes with a grounding wire and instruction manual. It is not a NEWTRY brand I received though as the title says. You'll be getting a model of the Simco ION like the photo shows. Still solid purchase tho
