my 10 month old is in 18 month clothes.. i need the infant type II vest .. i see mixed reviews... will it hold him? is the neck small? is he to big?

The life jacket is structured for the weight of a child. 10 months old. Usually, this type of vest would not work for, even if he is the right weight. There is nothing to hold his head up out of the water. He needs like a floating device he can sit in. I hope this helps. There are so many life vests. If you call the non emergency line of the coast guard, they will help you too.

Does the vest itself have a label saying it’s coast guard certified? The water park we are going to requires proof of certification.

Wouls not recommend anyway. Pushed my daughter face into the water instead of back to float

Why is the buckle for infants so close to their chin?

To prevent it from floating up above their necks and over their heads, which could drown them.

What's the difference of type 1, 2 or type 3 for infants?

US Standards – USCG Approved Type I: Offshore Life Jackets: Best for all waters; open ocean, rough seas, or remote water, where rescue may be slow coming. Type II: Near-shore Vests: Calm inland waters, where a quick rescue is likely, is the intent of these PFDs. They will turn some unconscious wearers to the face-up position but not all of them. Type III: Flotation Aids: These are suitable for most sailors where there is a chance for a quick rescue. They offer freedom of movement and the most comfort for a conscious person. Type IV: Throwable Devices: Cushions or ring buoys are designed to be thrown to someone in trouble and provide backup to a PFD. They are not for non-swimmers, rough waters or the unconscious. Type V: Special-use Devices: These are specialized PFDs for specific activities. The label will also specify what specific ‘Special use’ the life jacket is designed for.
