Kenmore
I purchased this vacuum cleaner to replace the Eureka PowerSpeed Lightweight Upright Vacuum Cleaner that died after a year. Out of the box, the Kenmore was very easy to put together. The lift away feature was exactly what I needed to vacuum our carpeted stairs. I was shocked at the amount of dirt this vacuum picked up, apparently, the Eureka was only hitting the surface and nothing more. My stairs looked like I had actually vacuumed, and the Kenmore was much easier to use. The attachments work very well. This vacuum has 2 motors, one for the brush roller which makes the vacuum so much easier to push. You have the option on the power switch of using just suction or suction with the brush roller. Another good feature is you can choose how much suction the vacuum has which works great for area rugs. It picks up well on hardwood floors and does not blow around dust or dirt. So far, this is exactly what I needed to make cleaning a little easier. I have carpal tunnel, radiculopathy in both arms and problems with my legs, this vacuum is a game changer for me.

Best Vacuum Around!
I was on the hunt for a new vacuum and was going to get a Shark until I scrolled upon this and read reviews. I bought based off the reviews and crossed my fingers. It is literally the BEST vacuum! I vacuumed 3 times a week and sometimes twice a day on weekends. This thing sucked soo much dirt and hair that my other left behind! It was shocking to see how much stuff was in the carpet.I love that you can adjust the suction and can have the front roller on or off. Roller is easy to clean. The bottom comes off, so you can carry the rest and use the hose. The front turns which makes it easy to get to those certain spots. Attachments are easy to put on and remove. Filters are easy to remove and clean. This picks up anything and everything in its way. I can even use it on my fur rugs without it getting stuck in fur. It picks up everything off the hardwood and linoleum. It works great for the car, too!#№ I love this vacuum so much, I WANT to use it daily.I've had it a couple months and no complaints. It's an amazing vacuum for the price! It's light weight and looks nice too.If you are in the fence, just get it. You won't regret it!

Terrible brush roller / belt assembly design
I purchased this vacuum because of a positive review on Project Farm. It’s lightweight and easy to maneuver, but the brush roll / belt design is terrible. The brush roll is an assembly which has a housing that covers the connection to the belt, so you don’t have access to where the belt connects to the roller. If hairs or debris get into that side of the brush roll, you can’t remove the brush roll or assembly cover to clean it out.On top of that, to remove the lower cover to get the belt / roller assembly, it requires removing 12 screws. On other vacuums, it’s usually a coin slot you turn halfway then you can remove the roller to clean it.Because of how complicated it is to get to, I did not add a photo of the assembly to this review. But if you look at where the black roller goes into the white housing, if debris gets in there, you have no way to remove the roller from that housing to get it out. Behind that is the belt, which is not replaceable on its own, you have to purchase the whole assembly because you can’t open the assembly to get to it.(You can see mine is chewed up because I tried taking a pin and knife between the two trying to get all the hairs and debris out)The part is also on back order, with no ETA (probably because getting it jammed is a common problem). I have been waiting over a month for this part. While waiting, I went back to using my Dyson and discovered that, while much more bulky, it is also a lot stronger and picks up more dirt.I would love to recommend this vacuum for its small size and maneuverability, but instead have to recommend totally avoiding it because you can’t clean the brush roll on the side where it connects to the belt. Unless you are going to try and clean the roller on that side after every time you use it, this is an imminent problem.

A powerful, lightweight vacuum.
This initial review is after a single use of this new vacuum. Since the negative reviews all seem to indicate problems in the long run, I will update the review in 6 months to a year, and if all remains the same, will add a star.My situation: I finally reached the point where, after replacing the internal and external hose, the power switch, and the power head on my Dyson Ball Animal 2, the power head stopped working and I was unable to determine the cause after extensive troubleshooting. As such, I decided to look for a replacement.I live in a 1900 square foot home with bare floors and area rugs on the 1st floor, and wall to wall carpeting on the stairs and 2nd floor. I have one short hair dog, but the last of my long haired dogs recently passed so it was a good test for the Kenmore DU 4080.Unpacking and assembly.I love how this vacuum was packaged. The container was only 2 feet tall by 1 foot wide. There was no unnecessary packing or excess plastic bags wrapped with miles of packing tape. Unpacking and assembly took less than 10 minutes. The unit comes with a laminated quick start guide that has large font print, as well as a detailed owner's manual, also with clear instructions and large print, great for us old folks who can't seem to read the micro font in most manuals even with our glass on!. Assembly is completed in 4 easy steps, simply inserting components together until you hear a click.Initial use.I was surprised by several things upon initial use. First, the motor has great suction with a variable suction switch for decreasing it for things like vacuuming drapes, and in fact, when using it on the low-pile area rugs it actually pulls itself forward quite strongly (I used it on max suction setting). It works very well on bare floors, picking up kitchen debris and dog kibble without launching it all over the place. The power switch allows you to choose between the roller off or roller on positions.I then decided to test the upright removable cannister and onboard tools. The cannister removes easily from the base simply by stepping on the lever and lifting straight up. I attached the (non-powered) stair tool and set to work. Suction remained quite strong, and it made a noticeable difference on the stair carpeting.Minor quibble no. 1: The debris cannister is relatively small compared to the Dyson. I had to empty it after completing each floor, whereas the Dyson could run and not fill the cannister until the whole house was vacuumed.Re-attaching the cannister was quite easy; just line it up and push until you hear the click, and that's it. It was lighter than the Dyson and hence easier to carry up the stairs. It continued to perform well, and even sucked up a noticeable amount of dog hair from the longer haired dog who had passed 2 weeks earlier, so that tells me the beater brush and the suction are quite powerful. Emptying the container is a breeze; just hold it over your garbage can, push the button on the bottom and the door opens to release the debris into the can. Snap it back together, place it on the base, and push until you hear the click to return. I did not notice any excess debris stuck in the cannister, although I make a point of shaking and banging lightly on the side when emptying it to remove anything that gravity could not pull out.Minor quibble no. 2: The cord is way shorter than the Dyson, so I had to unplug and find new outlets to complete each floor, whereas the Dyson cord was long enough to only have to change outlets once upstairs, and not at all downstairs. I can live with this. :)Overall, the unit is light but sturdy, does not seem cheaply made, and did a great job on its initial use. I do have a minor concern where the hose goes into the upper handle, as even with the strain relief, the bend is rather sharp, and may wear out in the long term.I will update this review as required later on, but for now it seems the 150 bucks I paid was a good investment.
