Q: are you sure this is 10 awg and not 12 awg? There is one sold by a competitor that looks exactly the same as this one and it has 12 awg on the package

Couldn't say for sure, wire insulation is a lot better than it used to be so many wires look a lot thinner. That said, just Google "ampacity" to get an idea of the current rating. Even 12 AWG should support 20 Amps. For my application, it's more than sufficient, so I didn't look so closely at the package. At 10 AWG, the rating is like 30 AMPs. If you're getting close to that much power, get a circuit breaker from Digikey or Newark. (Power=current*voltage) or Wattage=Amps*Volts
