Repetitious
Very short book, with the Introduction consisting of 11 pages and written by Gunn, with the remainder of the ‘book’ consisting of 2 Egyptian texts, one with 21 pages, the latter with 3 pages, plus 4 short Appendices. The first imprint of this book was 1909, therefore it is evident by the stilted and archaic verbiage that further ‘translation’ on the reader’s part will be necessary. These texts are essentially instructions to the … Egyptians … on how to act, what to do and not do, what is acceptable. In other words, moral precepts. That have been said in numerous ways in various other ancient Egyptian writings. The first thing that came to mind as I was reading – especially the first text (after the [in my opinion] unnecessarily extended introduction by Battiscombe Gunn) – is that this text was not originally directed at or written for the Egyptians. And while others may not agree with me, I have a very strong sense – based on the various ancient texts of the Egyptians, the Sumerians, the Hebrews as well as based on what is now coming to light in regard to Atlantis – that this ‘world’s oldest book’ may actually be a leftover text from Atlantis re-purposed for the Egyptian peoples. The second thing I noticed is that the first text in particular, seems to actually be two different texts fused together. One that is ‘instructionally positive’ (“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”) and one that is instructionally negative, like the Hebrew Scriptures or what is now known as the Torah or with the Christian Greek Scriptures included, the Bible (“Thou shalt not kill”).Interesting to a point. But didn’t add a whole lot to what is already known about Egypt.

Great read
In my opinion, this book lays the foundation for many of the moral teachings found in the bible. Makes me want research further into the Ethiopian bible.

Good Read
I enjoyed the wisdom this book contained. I recommend it as an old text containing interesting suggestions to live well.

Very thin book
I'm sure any papyrus that they found with these teachings should make this book a lot thicker than it really is any person on this planet can read through this book in about an hour it might be 65 pages tops so I'm disappointed in the thickness even though I have it ready yet
