1/100 German Heavy Tank King Tiger Henschel

Goes together fairly easy but there are some tricky parts that may result needing some putty to fill in gaps. I saw other reviews state that the turret was difficult to fit in place, I didn't have any issues with this but a round jewelers file can enlarge the opening to make it fit easier.Still need a little more weathering and some touch ups but I'm very happy with this kit. I picked it up for $12, which seems a good deal considering what Zvezda models are selling for now. When I first started buying them they were all going for around $8.

Great tank

I glued the turret on as broke off no big deal.. I have Panthers and Jagd panthers besides this 1 and I enjoy painting and weathering detail as so many variations during 1939 German armor to end of war and for the scale and price,, I like them.. Just have to be patient putting together and I prefer gluing.. Over all good and 4 stars because hard to put turret to hull maybe with a knife or file widen just a tad to be firm?? I will order again..Update: I bought another and while test fitting turret to hull,, snapped off.. So,, I fabricated and enlarged hole just enough to work and here are more images..On 2nd like the 1st,, elected not to paint in Ambush scheme and made them look like field painted over basic dunkelgelb..

I have done plenty of flames of war in the same scale and this Has to be one of the worst designed models. The parts do not actually even fit together and have to be bend to snap into place and then glued unevenly

I have built 5 of these. This model is of comparable size to Flames of War and Forged in Battle Tiger II's and looks nice once assembled and painted (I do prefer the Zvezda model to the FoW model). I found it difficult to attach the bow machine gun without breaking off the barrel, so, resorted to snipping off the pin leaving just enough for a guide and then gluing it into place. My chief complaint is the rear half of the hull, and the side pieces. There is insufficient support for the sides and rear which make it difficult to keep the tank from buckling when picking it up. Glue is required to resolve this but still found the fit was not completely satisfactory. Also, the side pieces can be a bear to get on so that the front fender does not have a gap. I would give them 4 stars but I just had to take into account the frustration level for the complaints I mentioned. If you require a tank commander figure, you won't find it here. You can find these tanks fairly cheap if you look around which gives them the edge over competitors.

The instructions are not bad. The molding is very clean. The fit on several parts is somewhat off. If you press them to make them fit, you run the risk of snapping the part or the fitting due to the parts being on such a small scale. Just pre-fit parts before snapping or gluing. You will need some putty on the upper hull. All in all a pretty decent build that worked out alright for wargaming.
