The wood on these shelves is very light, it doesn't feel like a typical shelf. They do seem very sturdy as long as you're cautious of this, I think they might scratch easily. These shelves are great! I mounted mine to be able to use the brackets as a makeshift book end. They came packaged very securely so no shelves or brackets were damaged. They can be mounted two different ways. The brackets are surprisingly strong. I am very happy with these shelves and I would definitely purchase them again. I also purchased the wall lights seen in the photos from Amazon. Great value for the price I paid.

Love these shelves! I bought 3 shelves but have only used 2 so far, trying to figure out where to put the 3rd. Light weight and easy hang. Look perfect in the space. Highly recommend.
