Oldie but Goodie
I know everyone wants the latest and greatest but there is nothing like a VCR tape to remind you of the good old days. This Sony VCR is very good and connects to your TV in several ways. I went with the HDMI connection and it works very nicely. If you have VCRs, and nothing to play them with, order one of these Sony beauties.

Eats tapes don’t buy.
The media could not be loaded. Was so excited to get this VCR for a birthday gift for my fiancee…..but it’s trash. Fresh out of the box it ate one movie.. I thought maybe it’s a fluke and put in another one it ate that one as well. Clearly poor quality control. AND to return it? I have to print my own label and take it to ups store and I don’t have a printer. Perfect. Thank you for being even more of a pain than I could have imagined you’d be. 350$ plus tax for trash. Do yourself a favor and order from somewhere else. Video included

Good quality and customer service
Everything was clean and shrink wrapped with no damage. The original unit had a mechanical problem but it was easy to get it replaced by the vendor with free shipping for the return and replacement.

had issues with ejecting the tape from the player. Frequent Video drop out
Several of my tapes would not play and when they did there was a lot of video buffering. Tape often times would not eject until power was turned off and back on. My tapes are old, I requested a return and another player. See how that works.

Audio and Video out of sync
The VCR worked fine, it's the USB Grabber package that I had issues with. So far had the same problem with all of the VHS tapes that I tried to transfer to DVD, audio and video are not in sync. Ok at beginning of movie, by mid-movie audio is 3-4 seconds behind, by end of movie 7-8 seconds behind. Emailed the seller and they responded right away and said they would look into it, got back to me and said maybe the VHS was old and dusty. I told them that I didn't think that was the problem, when I play the tape in the VCR the quality of the picture and sound were good, just not in sync. They said they would get back to me shortly and haven't heard from them since then. Sine then tried converting a home movie and that was worse, video would start and stop and the audio was ok. I'll most likely return it, my main reason for buying it was to transfer VHS tapes and home movies to DVD and that function just doesn't work properlyFollow up: After I responded to the seller that the VHS being old and dusty was not the problem they said they would get back to me, never heard from them again. Started doing some research online and found that the problem is with the USB Grabber software that is included in the purchase, I downloaded OBS studio (free download) and have been using that instead and everything works fine.

You need to be a pro video editor to use this.
Unless you're a professional video editor from the 90s and know all the resolutions to capture this nonsense in, and what software you need to use on Windows (OBS) and how to configure OBS to capture the camera and audio at the same time (set the microphone) you won't know how to do this readily easily. You can opt for the HDMI converter, but 9/10 chance that the software on the HDMI capture device doesn't have an easy option for "VHS -> H.264 compressed 480p." Everything I tried was spitting out 1080p videos and taking up way too much space, and had a bar in it. I fixed both of those from the source, but even then I don't really feel like keeping this product. I will probably be returning it. Everyone got word around town that I do VHS -> x.264 and now everyone wants my help to do this, so I'm just getting this out of my life now.

No signal from DV to HDMI
No signal on display trying to play vhs tapes using DV to HDMI interface powered by USB. Software on compact cd is not usable without this now obsolete device that should be replaced by a website link.
