Yes, they would work very well in flights.

Q: What is the decibel reduction rating? Is there any metal in this product?

I do not know the decibel reduction, I put them on myself and it significantly reduced the sounds. I was in my living room with the TV volume on 15. Yes there is metal, the headband is made of metal but is covered with some type of plastic covering.

Q: Are the earmuffs made of latex or vinyl?

I don’t know. I returned mine, they did nothing. In my opinion they are just for looks and don’t do any noise canceling.
