Q: The sensor lights up that it is working, however it does not actually open or close. Automatic or manual. Any troubleshooting ideas?

I've had this garbage can for 2 years & after the first 18 months the lid stopped opening even after changing the batteries and I was tempted to return it (because it was still under warranty), so my husband felt it just needed a good dose of 3 in 1 oil sprayed all around the lid creases. Bingo, that was the problem. I waited 7 months before posting this to make sure it still works and it does. My thoughts are every year to year and a half it needs a spray of 3 in 1 oil.
