This seems really expensive for what it is, but it was easy to work with but looks great
I almost wish it was a little denser material. I had flat brick work (about a half inch thick) facade around my garage door openings, below the siding between the driveway and the bottom course of siding. That 28 year old bricks mortar was failing and many of the bricks had fallen away from the foundation. It looked like crap. I thought about just redoing the brick, but to reuse that brick I would have to clean all of the old mortar off of the back of them etc., and that just seemed like a lot of work. With the GenStone all I had to do was measure, cut and trim them to fit and then stick them in place.I bought construction adhesive to secure them to the foundation, but frankly, they fit so snug in there between the driveway and the bottom coarse of siding that I don't think they are going anywhere. In my application, I only needed about 9" to 10" high with varying lengths, so I didn't have to put together any rows on top of one another. My one concern was when you do cut them, you are left with an exposed cut edge, and I was concerned about those unpainted edges absorbing water, so before I installed them I painted all cut edges with a couple good coats of near matching paint.IMO, the end result came out really good, I've the wife was impressed with how it turned out, even if it did seem to cost a lot more than it should. I can't imagine the huge expense of doing a large area with these. But then, brick work isn't cheap either, so who knows.

my experience vs what i saw in prior reviews
We had a retaining wall made from 4x6 pressure treated wood that I just hated the look of and was hoping for nicer look on a budgetPrevious reviews stated buyer beware you will have to pay for returns. I found this was stated by Genstone so although nice to be repeated for those that weren't aware it was nothing I did not know. For this reason (and also to be honest bad math on what i needed) I made multiple orders. All orders arrive at least 10 days earlier then expected in perfect order, no damages found . The other review mentioned seeing a seam line. I can confirm you can see lines. However I am still more then happy with the outcome. We opted to use real cement tops that helped pull off a real stone wall look. Someone else mentioned shrinkage, for this reason as a precaution we painted the wood a grey before installation. At this time we have found zero shrink. As far as installation my 70 year old husband did it with ease. Even a few tricky corners and sides of stairs. He did not need my help at all. I absolutely love the look and have gotten nothing but compliments . I hope this helps

Company makes you pay for returns!
Poorly crafted product and worse returns require you to pay. Abnormal shape of box requires a high expense for shipping return on your dime. Buyer be aware!!!

Decent but overpriced
A bit expensive for what you get.

This looks fake from any distance!
The return process was easy and painless, for that I am thankful. The video I watched before buying made installation look almost as easy as the return process. This is where the compliments end.The pictures make this look legit, like real stone! In person, not so much! If you were doing a community theatre production, this might pass for using to design a scene. As for siding, perhaps around the bottom of a mobile home (no offence to mobile home owners), but for a house its a HARD pass. The product feels too light weight to stand up to any serious weather or a lifetime of wear and tear. Also, the paint is unconvincing and it just looks too cheap for a house. It will devalue your home.

Item shrinks after installation
This item is easy to install and looks great. The price is a little high. The only thing we are not happy about was that after a day or 2 of installation it shrank and now we have big gaps in between each piece. Not sure what happened because when it was installed it looked great.

Genstone installs easily
The product is great, easy to install, looks great. The bad part is when you make the cuts you need different colors of paint to match. Though they make a paint kit, none were available for the color we had chosen. When they did have it in stock on Amazon or on the Genstone website it was too expensive for tiny 2 ounce bottles of paint. The paint was cheaper at Genstone but one you add shipping it made it too expensive.
