Finally Someone Who Can Answer My Questions!
I was diagnosed on 11/18/13. The doctor gave me some information that was extremely brief & generic. I was overwhelmed with the diagnosis & being faced with a formidable disorder that I'd never heard about but had impacted my life greatly. First stop: the local library. Not one book on the subject for laypeople. I found two medical texts that I cannot read because I am not a doctor, so the language is above my head. I spoke to a dietician, who wasn't very helpful. Since I didn't know what to ask for questions, I didn't even know what information to request from my gastroenterologist. So I came to Amazon & did a search. I downloaded the Kindle sample. It was enough to convince me to purchase the entire book. What a blessing this book has been to my overwhelmed soul! In question & answer form, Crystal asked, and then answered, all the questions I didn't know that I should ask. She outlines different treatment options that she's uncovered, as well as complementary therapies. She speaks with authority, as one who has had a grastroparesis diagnosis since 2004. She bravely shares her story & what she's learned, making my road to living well with this disorder much easier to manage and consider. She speaks in plain English, even when she's using medical terms. If you are considering this book vs. the cookbook, you will be pleased to know that there are recipes included in this book. There are more recipes in the cookbook, but the narrative of the cookbook is, from what I've been told, much more narrow-focused than this book. If you can only get one book first, get this one first. Go over it, try the suggestions, then buy the cookbook, which I will be doing soon.

One of the BEST books I’ve read!
It explains how important it is to building a dream team of people that support you whether it’s doctors, therapist, family, and friends, nutritionist, just amazing. Very simple, easy to understand even hopes you realize how to start your personal journal and gives you very good knowledge as a beginner with gastroparesis. It’s truly one of the best books I’ve ever purchased!

Excellent book to understand Gastroparesis
I got one for my sister, and for myself to help understand Gastroparesis better. We were able to read it together (long distance), and she was able to make some good adjustments to her routine to help her eat better, reduce stress levels, and new exercises. Her gastroenterologist wanted to read it when she was finished! I would highly recommend this book.

Living Well With Gastroparesis
I have been trying to live well with Gastroparesis since I was diagnosed with the idiopathic condition over 30 years ago now as a new adult. So when I stumbled across Living Well With Gastroparesis I borrowed it from Kindle Unlimited immediately. To see what I might learn from the author.Being diagnosed well before the author wrote this book.I can't say she really brings anything new for me. This being said however, I hope that this book is being recommended by every Gastroenterologist in the United States if not internationally. As in the early 90's when I got my emptying results I was told I likely would be seeing St. Peter before I saw 2000. That was horrific. I truly hope things have greatly improved in attitude about this condition for others now. There are parts to this book that can't help me. Namely the numerous mentions of the nutritional meal replacement Orgain and almost all of the recipes as someone with severe food allergies especially to Legumes ,Soy and nuts. Therefore my liquid nutritional drink must be Premier Protein. As they have sunflower oil instead of soy or canola oil which is a major trigger for a flare. The one of the best things that was recommended to me besides Botox was a food allergy assessment. In the flipside I know many other Gper's who find these things shared in recipes helpful . This is why I highly recommend this book and will be mentioning finding it the next time I see my gastroenterologist.

Very helpful a must read.
It’s hard getting any medical support and advice ~ this book is a must to navigate living with gastroparesis!!So wonderful to find support. Medical community didn’t offer list of foods to eat and avoid like this book. I had first read kindle book, then ordered paperback book so I can have lists and possible prescriptions at my fingertips. Helped immediately when offered a drug with horrible side effects didn’t want to chance muscle damage so asked for alternative she suggested in her book. All I can say is thank you!!

A Much Needed Book for those Suffering from Gastroparesis!
I will never forget the day the doctor called and confirmed I had Gastroparesis. My gastro-emptying test revealed zero emptying during the numerous hours of imaging. Following seven months of tests, all he could tell me was to look online for diets for the condition and he would see me at my next appointment. I was confused and frustrated. It was only when I found Crystal Saltrelli's blog and book was I able to wrap my head around this condition, lifestyle changes, where to locate the necessary supplies, what to stock the kitchen and pantry with and educate myself about exactly what foods I could eat and how to eat them. Thanks to Living (Well!) with Gastroparesis and a month or so of a total GP diet, my stomach pain has decreased and my energy level has increased. This is by far the most informative, up-to-date book on this confusing condition. When I saw my doctor following the dreaded telephone call, I gave him a copy of the book and told him to EDUCATE himself -- after all, he is an gastroenterologist and is SUPPOSED to be the EXPERT. If you or a loved one has Gastroparesis, or even those in the medical field treating patients with the condition, this is the book for you. It is with me constantly for reference and I have made about 75 percent of the recipes. I am grateful to the author for her help. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found it -- most likely still suffering and searching for answers.
