Great look and feel. Nice and sharp right out of the box. Bought it as a gentleman’s knife and it’s perfect. Made in CHINA.

Excellent Quality, Essentially Identical To Much-Higher Priced Shun Product
Well made knife with a great edge in a small, thin package - it's especially useful in restaurants where the quality of the steak greatly exceeds the quality of the cutlery. One annoyance, however - when closed there is a 3/8" protrusion beyond the knife body, a knurled extension from the back of the blade used both to open the knife and limit its travel. If you want to carry this knife in your pocket without the (included) leather case, the protrusion will eventually poke a hole in your pocket - if not your leg. This is said to be a traditional Japanese design. That's great, but it's not as unobtrusive as the "nail mark" used on most American & European blades, or the even newer flipper designs. Apparently Kai intend that the knife to be kept in its case, meaning more bulk in your pocket.

Kai 5700 Folding Steak Knife
This folding steak knife was purchased, because of the too often aggravation of restaurant-provided knives being dull. also taken into account is that many functions where food is served requires cutting with a plastic knife - an even worse situation. This knife solves these issues. The knife works as advertised, the metal components are stainless steel and washes easily with dish washing soap & water. When not in use, the knife is carried in a small clear film ziplock-type bag, that is then placed into the case that came with th knife. A fine diamond sharpening utensils in used to maintain the knife's cutting edge. The stainless steel blade is not as durable as the more expensive carbon steel bladed knives, but it doesn't rust and cleans easily. The only issue is that its use has freaked out a few folks, until they see it being used a legitimate culinary utensil. Still, it does not belong in one's airline carry on luggage.

Nice knife for what it is
This is an ideal knife for the kind of knife it is. I bought it as a gift for my son. To give an idea of how sharp it is: he performed a fingernail and hair test (typical of razors) with it passed with sparkling colors, to such a degree that he shaved one of his legs with it as a joke. No nicks or scratches there. Does my wife need one?Now... as a steak knife, you want ease of control, not just sharpness. I have a bit of collection and this knife strikes me as something of a "statement knife". An excellent pocket knife for certain tasks. We actually haven't tried it with steak yet. Honestly I might want something full tang/non-folding but then again it was a gift for someone who will enjoy this. For the price, worth it:)

very nice knife for eating out, very sharp.
I bought this knife for using when I eat out as knives supplied at restaurants are poor if they supply you with one at all (to be fair if they did supply high quality knives people would probably take them). This knife is very sharp, easily handled and big enough for any size steak while not feeling like you brought a machete. I have bought one for myself and my wife who was skeptical at first but uses it as much as I do.

IDEA needs WORK
I have purchased Many different knife brands. This may be one of the worst thought through items I have ever purchased;under the label of KNIFE. It has far too much length closed, and gets worse once it is opened. Opening the item with it's "Flipper" mechanism is awkward at best. The blade is much too light weight and thin to be useful. Also the blade is said to be "Razor Sharp, which it is NOT." I should also mention that I own several other knives made by this company so I feel am not writing with no background. Thank You for your attention and time. CJMc

Fantastic Personal Steak Knife
I have both the Shun 5900 and the KAI 5700 and I have to say that for US$30.00 this is a great little knife to put in your pocket to take to that barbecue or stash in your gear for that campfire cooking session. It's sharp, not "razor sharp" or chef's knife sharp, but sharp enough to make quick work of whatever piece of meat is in front of you. The polymer handle gives this a ruggedness that gives you the confidence to take this one places you might not want to take the Pakka wood handled Shun. Delivered in a blister pack with a very nice black, leather case to carry it in. If you're torn between buying the US$80.00 Shun 5900 and the KAI 5700, give this one a try first.
