Each strut, not both
It took a while, but finally got one of these struts to work for my home-made utility box with a heavy lid. I bought a set of 45lb rated struts for my 47lb lid. After mounting them on both sides of the box, I realized that EACH strut is rated at 45lb, not combined. Did not see that in the description or instructions. I probably should have bought a set of 25lb struts (=50lbs of force). For my application, one will do the job, however the brackets flex due to the force placed on one strut only.Following the instructions for mounting was easy, but required some experimenting for final positioning of the brackets.Pros:Great price!Appear to be well built struts.Instructions for position calculating were easy to follow.Cons:Need to experiment for final bracket position.Brackets flex when working with heavy weights.

Too stiff for most applications
Tried using these for a cabinet lid, and they are wayyyyy too strong. If they were adjustable they might be a lot better

92 c1500 hood spring removal to diy hood shock struts .
The media could not be loaded. I replaced the stock springs on my hood due to not closing properly, new hood springs are 50 bucks a piece, I decided to order threw trial an error found the 67 lb. adequate to lift and hold hood without out force and smooth operation, beats 135.00 kits else wear for 25.00 bucks.
