Humorous honest and powerful
Very well written. Humorous, honest and powerful. I love the fact that she uses poetry, speaks to the modern Muslim American teen and yet tells a universal story about a topic that is so difficult.

A fun contemporary with some surprisingly really hard hitting topics!
"There are diverse ways of reading texts, depending on who you are. We all access books differently." -S.K. Ali, Saints and Misfits I am not the biggest fan of YA contemporaries since quite a lot of the decisions made by the protagonists annoy me a lot but every now and then a YA contemporary ends up surprising me and I love when that happens. This book was such a surprise. I expected this to be a light breezy contemporary read but this was so much more. From the very first chapter I knew that it would leave a mark. Trying not to give up any spoilers, I'd say that the book talked about such relevant topics that are prevelant in all sorts of societies irrespective of religion or ethnicity or country. Massive respect to @skalibooks for throwing light on such a critical issue with such finesse. The characters were great! I loved the sibling dynamics between Janna and Muhammad. Janna was so damn relatable and I couldn't help but love Laddoo, her half brother, even though we got very little of him but I can't wait to see more of him in the upcoming sequel of the book, #MisfitinLove. I loves Janna and Tats friendship and her Mr. Ram's relationship ❤️🥺. I also adored Sarah for being the badass girl who showed how to be independent without letting anything mess with her religion and education! The writing was really good and I learned so much about Islam! Then there was Nuah, another character I wish to see more of in the sequel! Basically, I cannot wait to read the sequel which I should have started by now considering the e-arc waiting in my current reads lol. Also, from a little skimming that I've done of the the first chapter of the book, I can anticipate a big fat Muslim Wedding with the perfect Indian twist and I am so damn excited!! Anyway just pick this book up already so you can get to the sequel just in time for its release next month!

Favourite Read yet of 2018
I bought this book today and finished it today. There are no words to describe how much I am in love with this book.Did I say that I love this book?Yes, I LOVED this book, the main character and the side characters and the overall story and the way it dealt with some sensitive issues and friendships and shaky relationships with parental figures and with bullying that’s actually realistic and the actual love interest who I’d been rooting for since the beginning even if there wasn’t really a proper arc for them.Whatever. All I can repeat is that I love this bookThis beats I Was Born For This and Cruel Prince for my favourite read of 2018 yet. Also, did I mention HOW MUCH I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK?
